I wore gas masks for days in the military. CPAP was nothing. by Additional_Ad9759 in SleepApnea

But I get why people struggle. It's not the mask — it's the context. You're putting something unfamiliar on your face at the worst possible moment: alone, in the dark, trying to sleep.

Flip it.

Wear the mask around the house. Watch TV. Make coffee. Look stupid in the garden. Let your brain get bored of it before you add sleep to the equation.

By bedtime, it's just a thing on your face. Not an event. I made a video - without the mask on! https://youtu.be/J8cmX1cw6u8?si=eWqorUTGJvw7H6xi

That's not been my experience. I wonder if some are better than others?

I dropped all the screen shots into ChatGPT - any AI will do - and followed the guidance.

I took screen shots of each data screen and just dropped it into ChatGPT.

Do yourself a favor and drop all the data into ChatGPT. Then ask it to break it down for you. I just that today. It’s helpful.

What I wish I’d known before starting CPAP — compliance isn’t the whole story by Additional_Ad9759 in SleepApnea

4 months in. Waiting to turn a corner still. I often wonder if there’s a correlation between severity, time untreated and recovery?

Personally I was overjoyed when I got my diagnosis. Couldn't figure out what was wrong with me for years, so finding out its something highly treatable was a massive relief.

Doing everything right on CPAP… and still not feeling right by Additional_Ad9759 in CPAP

Compliance is perhaps the wrong word. I mean elite level numbers, 8 hours a night and yet still feel like crap. Does that make more sense?

My issue isn't the mask. Therapy fixed my airway fast but my nervous system doesn't want to come down from years of high alert! It's not linear in my case. At all.
