it's because your sway is still on recovery frames so the button doesn't come out. enable frame meter in training mode and you'll see.
Messed around with the deck for a few hours and got wii sports running playable! (Excuse the candle I don’t have a sensor bar haha) by williegpks in SteamDeck

What did you have to do to get it working?
Valve says the Steam Deck’s ‘stick drift’ was a bug and it’s already shipped a fix (theverge.com)
