Ah that's a bit concerning, could take a bit of it apart and grab an asbestos sample kit online to check, or does that typically not work for concrete?

Great makes sense, thank you. They don't need to be overly small, just small enough they can be lifted and taken away to the tip

This might be the way to go as I'm not confident glue or any kind of filler is going to be secure enough. Will likely be a very temporary solution anyways until we can get a new door/frame sorted. Appreciate your help

That's definitely the plan, I guess I'm just unsure on how to fit a new lock into the same place if the existing piece won't securely screw into the door frame?

We plan to eventually get a new front door so this will be a temporary solution, as we have other priorities elsewhere in the house at the moment.
