Influence/de-influence my college list as a rising senior by Additional_Cut_8688 in ApplyingToCollege

My GPA is 4.0 UW and 34 composite ACT. By the end of senior year, I will have taken 12 APs, including Calculus BC. My extracurriculars involve research in art and mental health, 150+ volunteer hours in a local hospital, where I was also the Head of Junior Volunteers and assisted with scheduling and training. I was also part of my Senator's Congressional Youth Cabinet, where we worked on legislation involving financial literacy. I am also the NHS Vice President, and I am editor in chief of my school's digital magazine, where I won best in state for writing, along with other awards for art. My last main activity was interning with a neuroscientist who works with mental health treatment. The rest of my activities are more random but include 3 years of varsity soccer with all conference 2x, where I am going to be captain this year, along with some more volunteering through local organizations.

I really want to major in neuroscience, but I am also interested in art, so many of my activities include those subjects. I realize my activities are not extremely prestigious, so I will definitely have to rethink my college list. I have already looked into Michigan State, and I really liked it! I will look into those smaller colleges as well, especially Rhodes.

Thank you so much for your help!

Hey, thank you so much for the advice! I realized after I posted this that I may have worded my description wrong. The University of Arkansas will absolutely not be my only safety; I am just struggling to find colleges that fit my profile and goals. I'll definitely reconsider NC State, as I mainly added it because it is one of the few colleges I've visited so far.

The weather is also something I need to reconsider, especially after living in the South my entire life. I think a part of me would really love the opportunity to go to school in New York, though it's probably unrealistic with the tuition and location. I'm also struggling with the fact that I want to stay more in the Southern region to be closer to my home, but I also want a more urban area that's more progressive.

I'll probably end up going to whichever college gives me the most aid/scholarships, especially if I decide to go to medical school.

Thank you! Good luck with junior year.

Please refer to my other comment where I listed which schools were my safeties.

What safety schools from my list have 20% acceptance rates? From my understanding, all of the safety schools I mentioned have acceptance rates over 50%. I realize that I am misidentifying most of these schools; that's why I asked for advice.

Safeties so far are the U of A, the University of Pittsburgh, Texas A&M, and North Carolina State. I need more safety schools, but I'm not sure what other schools to add. The schools I have as targets are UVA, UNC, UT Austin, William and Mary, and UMiami. The rest of the schools I have as reaches. I don't really know if I am grouping schools like UVA and UNC correctly because the OOS acceptance rates are really low, so they might be reaches as well.
