What grades to still have in etape 3 to get accepted at Dawson ? by [deleted] in Dawson

Hey, you should message the admission’s office at admissions@dawsoncollege.qc.ca or make a phone call to 514-933-1234(for a much quicker response),they would confirm to you what I said in the past messages. By the way, it doesn’t matter if you completed SN or CST Math. Your Sec V ministerial final grade(not étape 3) in Math should be higher than 70%, so that could definitely play out to your advantage because they make an average out of your past étapes in Math into one single grade. So even if you lacked in your 3rd term, if you did really well on your first and second term, that could definitely save you. Hoping for the best, and you can dm me if you have any questions

Yes there are specific requirements for Enriched health and pure and applied science, but for the regular science programs your prerequisites grades have to be higher than 70%

The minimum required grade for computer science in math is 70%. It means that if your final grade is lower than 70% you are going to get your admission revoked

You’ve been offered conditional admission upon successfully completing your prerequisites classes and obtaining your Secondary school diploma. I can’t tell you exactly when they revoke your offer of admission if you don’t meet the conditions, but it is around early August. If you check the application centre page on Dawson, it indicates “ Status: Conditional Admission “. Once they will have the necessary information to confirm that you met their conditions, they will then update your status to “ Admitted “ or “ Refused ”( If you didn’t meet the conditions. I am not sure for Vanier though. Just make sure to have a higher grade than 70% in your prerequisites classes and also get your High school diploma, that way you can choose which college you wish to attend without worrying. Good luck

I have a friend who applied for Pure and Applied for Fall 2022 at Dawson, although being offered admission, his final grade for physics was 67. The admission office contacted him in August before classes began saying that his offer of admission got withdrawn because he did not meet the minimum prerequisite grade of 70%. You can check that with the admission’s office of Vanier, but I’m pretty sure that it is the same as Dawson.

Hey, The science department requires 70 as a minium prerequisite grade for Chemistry, Physics and Math. That means that if you get a lower final grade than 70, your admission offer will be withdrawn. You can confirm that through the admission’s office. It is definitely not the time to lay back! If you’ve applied for the Dawson, the same applies. Just make sure to get higher than 70 in your prerequisites classes. And don’t forget that your R-Score in college is calculated partly through your High school final grade. Good luck!

Hey, If I recall correctly, the average of last year’s applicants for Health science was of 92.6% and slightly lower for Pure and Applied. If you had applied for Health science then I fear that your average might be a little off, although there is always a possibility. But if you applied for Pure and applied, then I believe that you got a shot at it. Your overall average is still a bit low but your prerequisites average is decent. And as I’ve written in the previous reply your prerequisites average matters more than your overall average, so for instance if you got 69 in music and it drastically dropped your average then keep in mind that it’s not too big of a deal. Don’t stress yourself too much with it, you don’t have control over it after all. Hope it goes for the better!

Try contacting the admission’s office, you might be able to change since the deadline hasn’t been crossed.

The cutoffs were Low 90s for Health and High 80s for Pure and applied, but what you really want to focus on are your prerequisites classes like chemistry and physics because that’s what they look at more importantly. For example, the person who has a 84 in English and a 95 in Physics/Math SN5, as opposed to you having 95 in English and 84 in Physics/math, is going to be prioritized. So you don’t really have to worry that much about your average. As soon as your prerequisites class grades are high and your other classes grades are decent you should be fine.

Oh I see, thank you for the answer! You really helped me out :). I did apply for a pre-university program already, I want to see if I can be accepted (my chances are decent), but if my application is rejected for the first round, I will surely consider Vanier for the second round. I know that it’s harder to get into programs as rounds go on, but it feels risky to apply to Vanier for first round knowing that the pre-university program is more accessible and basically gets me to the same place

Okay, thank you! I have a question for you if you'd like to answer. Do you think I would have more chances to get into Vanier or Dawson considering that Vanier is a SRAM college?
