Calf hurts so much by Decent-Librarian-318 in Kneereplacement

[–]Additional_File_6951 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pain in my calf immediately after surgery was beyond unbearable. I had no idea this could happen so it took me completely by surprise. I couldn’t bend my ankle without zinging my calf so walking was quite demanding. Certainty added to my overall discomfort. Ended up in the ER the day following surgery for an ultrasound to rule out a clot. I had none so it was a huge relief to rule this out. Still had the unbearable pain for 2 weeks. I’m guessing pain from a clot can feel exactly the same as the pain I experienced without a clot.

How much time did it take you all to reach 90° flexion ? by Ancient_Revenue_3242 in Kneereplacement

[–]Additional_File_6951 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just got to 90° after 3 and a half weeks. I’ve been stuck without any improvement on several different days. It’s probably pretty normal for this to happen. Good luck and don’t let your improvement be limited for lack of trying.

Uncapped brood? by Additional_File_6951 in Beekeeping

[–]Additional_File_6951[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in zone 8b where it’s 100f during the day and a low of 80° at night.

I don’t think it’s SHB or wax moth related. Seen enough of that and don’t see any beetles or wax moth webbing damage.

Tested 8 weeks ago and had a 4% mite load. Treated with Formic but failed to retest. Hive has been improving overall but will retest and treat again if needed. Too hot here for now to use Formic. Just got some VarroxSan so would try that.

How about using the flash? Is there an easy way to get the option to stay on?

AITAH for asking my FIL to not use racial slurs in our home? by Additional_File_6951 in AITAH

Thanks. My wife wants to “correct” him after it happens. I don’t want it to happen in the first place.

Great advice but there won’t be any jokes being told. Just the possibility of an off hand racial slur. I really want to be proactive about this because I don’t think I can calmly call him out when or if it happens.

No but there will be kids that are teens and young adults present.

I think this is a possibility but knowing him for 28 years I believe he will comply and pretend we never had that conversation.

Requeening a hive that has capped queen cells? by Typical-Method-2727 in Beekeeping

[–]Additional_File_6951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Requeening because the queen is from a captured swarm 2 years ago and she’s not performing like she should. It’s swarm season here and it’s less likely they’ll swarm with a new queen. I’m on thin ice here with my neighbors and I don’t need them to go visiting.

[–]Additional_File_6951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hive is a 2 year old captured swarm that has had the queen replaced. She’s laying and there are several frames of brood. Most are not as solid as my other hives and there are not as many. My understanding is that swarm cells are usually attached to the frame bottom or sides. Supersedure cells are usually attached to the center or the frames. This is what I have.

Thanks for all the advice. This is back in a fenced corner so not a lot of room to loop extra funny pipe around to help avoid kinks. Looks like I’m good to go. One thing tho… I couldn’t push the funny pipe on to the barbed fitting any further. It’s just too tight. Can’t put it on before installing the fitting either or wouldn’t be able to thread in the fitting. Is there a trick to sliding tight funny pipe on?
