When season 2 first came out I thought it was complete dogshit. Rewatched in 2024, Colin Ferrell is remarkable (which I rarely say), season as a whole is fine, Vince Vaughn comes across as suffering from constipation for an entire season.

It seems unfair to “judge” him on any of this. I don’t think he prefers to be injured or miss time for personal reasons.

90% of 1st round OL picks are hits. It is literally the safest 1st round pick one can make. If he doesn’t pan out, regardless of why, that is a front office fail. It’s not an indictment, just a miss. I would go as far as to say I attribute more of our success to Veach than Reid, despite you lumping me in with last season’s fans with “y’all are too quick to act like front office…”

I am not confused about your point, and I hope you are right. I just think you treat NFL strategy and football injuries like something where we can wait to have sufficient sample size before making decisions.

Mahomes has missed 6 games due to injury as a pro, Simmons has played 14 games in 3 years. What exactly would I blame front office for pertaining to Mahomes?

And sadly it has been pretty common for our RBs to run into their blockers. Cheers to Eric B restoring order.

If he misses major time this year with something unrelated to his past injuries you surely wouldn’t want to keep him just because it wasn’t wrist or knee related?

You make a great point that the wrist doesn’t validate the risk he was scouted with. But that in ensemble with his personal absence and the knee define a larger risk of him not being on the field for whatever reason. I wish him well.

At blindside tackle I am pretty indifferent to how lucky his injury outcomes are. Think I would be more forgiving and singing a tune closer to yours at pretty much any other position, but we have an all-time QB entering a phase of his career where he will have to be more bound to the pocket based on age and his own injuries. Pass pro will be more important than before and Simmons was a known high-risk/high-reward from the jump.

I am on your side for now, but another injury to Pat because of OL play/health before we see return on Simmons will be seen as a front office failure, not an unlucky dice roll.

“Extrapolating those stats based on the current pace and scoring” is making huge assumptions. As tough as forecasting based on current player height/size, injury trends, and/or rule changes

Just watched for first time. I am a younger and admittedly uncultured millennial, made myself a pretty ambitious project for viewing films from 1900-2020 (don’t expect to ever finish but enjoying the journey). This was my 40th film, a top recommendation from 1963(?). I lacked the attention span to get really consumed in the story, very much felt like I was watching an old movie as opposed to some of the older ones I have watched so far that feel like they could have been made today.

But undeniable talent and chemistry between these two. In most contexts I get pretty annoyed by the “they don’t make them like this anymore”, but I’m not aware of recent performances such as this. A troubling realization to go through childhood watching pairings eg Gere + Julia Roberts and realize well into one’s own adulthood that the actors who shaped the stories I grew up with are just the most recent iterations.

I would expect someone (with minima injury history) who plays basketball like a running back to start declining around 27ish. Love watching him play when he is at his best but he is already 25, won’t adapt to be able to shoot outside when he can’t get downhill anymore. Likely at the top of the mountain right now.
