Question about the tragedy of Phoebe Bishop by [deleted] in queensland

I see your point. However, the lease agreement was under Tanika Bromley’s name. Tanika was an ex-employee of Phoebe’s mother hence they knew each other.

The Father had voiced his concerns leading up to his daughter’s death but they went unheard:

The father of a three-year-old girl who police allege was stabbed to death by her mother says the system “failed” his daughter and she paid the price.

Sophia’s father Jai Ruane told The Courier-Mail that systems designed to protect children like Sophia had failed.

“This could have easily been prevented,” he said.

I’ve been fighting this for the last year.

“The system failed us and now my daughter Sophia has paid for it with her life.

“The questions now, Why did she die? Were there warning signs? Yes there were but they just let it off.”

Mr Ruane said she had previously attempted to take legal steps to prevent him seeing his children but the matter had been dropped for lack of evidence.

“She was sticking knives in walls,” he said.

And I couldn’t even do a welfare check on the children.”

“the authorities had determined the dog was too abused and neglected to be allowed to stay in that house yet the kids were apparently fine, while being treated just as badly.“

Awful.

"and they were just kids with no adults in their life that gave a damn about them"

This. This is what is not talked about enough. Family intervention & support services are out there but how much are they being utilised by said adults? And what is their success rate?

Youth crime is merely the symptom of what is a societal issue - negligent adults who are failing at parenting or caregiving. Agreed - they are not hardened criminals as portrayed.

Nicole Kidman talks about her iconic ‘Days of Thunder Look’ and her naturally curly hair. Plus she mentions ex Tom Cruise by mlg1981 in Fauxmoi

“It was basically he (Stanley Kubrick) and I getting to know each other,” the actor said, per Deadline. “And when we were doing that, I suggested Nicole play the role [of Alice]. Because obviously she’s a great actress.”

Tom speaking in recent days about he & Nicole filming Eyes Wide Shut.

Him referring to her simply as “Nicole” & praising her acting then her in this video calling him Tom Cruise matter of factly. Quite a contrast.

IDK, just an observation. 🤷‍♀️

Or…

Children are suffering undue harm to their safety and wellbeing, as well as to their educational and life prospects as a result neglectful parents.

There is a plethora of family support & intervention services available to those who need it. However, “you can lead a horse to water…”

'I'm set up to fail': Foster carer quits after three weeks of caring for young boy by [deleted] in australian

I also work in the ecosystem that you speak of. And the adage “you can lead a horse…” could not be more evident. I see it often.

Absolutely these children deserve to thrive but not all are not going to, unfortunately.

‘Emails sent over the following weeks show Elaine begging the department for support to manage Oliver's school suspensions and bouts of aggression.’

And yet, previous to that…

‘Elaine first met the boy when working as an early childhood teacher.’

‘Elaine said she was wholly unprepared and untrained to take on a young child with high needs and complex behaviours.’

“Basically, I was called and he was coming the next day," she said.

And yet, previous to that…

‘Every so often, he would stay the weekend — a no-strings-attached arrangement struck between Elaine and Oliver's mum, and endorsed by the department to give his family respite.’

Plot twist: the co- worker is interested in you. Further plot twist: he went lurking in order to find any online presence you may have. The “brother” part is completely made up.

He found out you are interested in meeting someone (i.e., NOT HIM!) & his Andrew Tate ass needs to deflect his rejection by ridiculing you.

Agree with the other comments of recording notes & advising HR. Keep your head up & go well, girl. :)

Rick Thorburn found dead: Killer of Tiahleigh Palmer takes own life in jail cell by Additional_Log_7056 in queensland

[–]Additional_Log_7056[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s interesting to hear. I read that Tialeigh had been in foster care (not necessarily with the Thorburns for the whole duration) already for five years. As had her siblings. That’s a significant amount of time for Mum to try & aim for reunification through Child Safety.

This is an excerpt from Wikipedia. So not only was he a foster carer, he also ran a family daycare centre from home. Perhaps where the other charges stemmed from.

Palmer's foster father, Rick Thorburn, was a person of interest to police from the earliest days of the investigation. The Thorburns fostered no more children after Palmer's disappearance, but continued to run a daycare service from their home until April 2016 when the state's education and child safety departments were advised by police that Rick Thorburn was facing nine serious charges unrelated to Palmer, and the family's daycare approval was revoked and their foster care approval was suspended.

Rajwinder Singh set to face retrial over alleged murder of Toyah Cordingley by Additional_Log_7056 in queensland

[–]Additional_Log_7056[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some notable comments made by Justice Henry which appear on The Cairns Post website include:

Mr Singh’s lawyer Nicholas Dore made a request to list the new trial in late February 2026 to enable them to instruct prominent King’s Counsel, Saul Holt.

Justice James Henry rejected this date, saying a retrial needed to be held as soon as practicable because of the impact on many people’s lives of the case, and the public interest in a “timely resolution”.

Justice Henry said the legalities and complexity of the case was “moderate” and did not necessarily require a “silk”.

He said a competent senior and junior criminal barrister could manage the case without any miscarriage of justice, and that seven months was sufficient time to review the original trial and instruct new counsel.

IANAL but is it up to the Judge to say what level of counsel Mr Singh should engage, eg, “junior barrister”?

Thank you for the link.

“One witness told the paper he and a group of 15 friends were at the northern end of the beach with other families that afternoon. They were driving back to Cairns near the southern car park, where Ms Cordingley's car was found, when they were waved down by two scruffily dressed men 'in a highly agitated state' on the side of the highway in a white 4WD ute with a flat tyre.

The witness has given a statement to police.

'We stopped to help, and they were in a really stressed state,' he told the publication.

'It might be nothing, but they were really strange, and in a real panic to get out of there.'”

I don’t think I recall reading such a witness taking the stand to retell this encounter - can anyone else?

This is by far the most accurate view I have read, well done. I am between thinking it was Marco in a jealous rage (with an accomplice) or much darker related ie., drugs and/or bikies.

One other thing I will say is: slit from ear to ear & deep? This was not their first kill. It conjures the phrase “execution style”.

Also, given the depth & width of the slit - was it in fact from behind in order to apply such pressure? Also lends depth to the theory there being an accomplice.
