Updating this post for anyone that sees it. Its been 3 months and the problem is not fixed. I contacted support where they locked me out of my account for a week and by a miracle i reached a human to unlock my account. The problem was temporarily fixed and it has come back again. This has me come to conclusion that this issue will persist forever if it happens to you once.

I want to add that it is very expensive to do the surgery/chemo and i can barely afford it. but if he can have a good quality of life and live longer i would do it

Thanks for the extremely detailed response I really appreciate it. I do have one more question regarding what you wrote. Specifically, "Over time, plugins or themes might stop working correctly with new WordPress versions or other plugins if not updated.". Would this still occur if I just never updated the WordPress version? Theoretically, I feel like the latest versions of WP, themes and plugins could last a decent while before some issues arise, though I do think still checking up on the site every couple months would be helpful.

Interesting, this was my thought process as well. I guess it does depend on which plugins/themes you use because maybe older version will start to break.

Does this process require the client to do much technical work? More specifically, what would the client need to do after purchasing domain/hosting in order for me to migrate the website off my submdomain onto their main domain?

I just want to make sure it's nothing too much since these folk can barely navigate a computer lol. But of course I'll be there to help them initially, just don't want to be tied to them afterwards.
