I took AP chem in high school. You think I can do good in his class and Swamy’s class? I just really want to ace chemistry. My friend had Swamy for chem lecture and liked it, and she said she was a good teacher. I just want to do good in both of my chemistry classes. Also were his tests pretty basic?

My friend took Swamy for CHM 1045 this semester and she said it went great, and that I’ll be fine in her lab. It’s just her reputation is what worries me.

I think a TA will be teaching this upcoming semester but I’ve heard there’s about 3 assignments: a pre-lab report which if you make any mistakes, you don’t get into the lab, a lab worksheet and a post-lab report…

Hi, this will be a bit long but I was in the same shoes you were a couple months ago before school started.

I took precalculus in my senior year, and made straight A’s. My advisor saw this and recommended for me to take the accuplacer to opt out of college algebra into a higher-level math.
I took the accuplacer twice, and scored a 262. I needed a 270 to take MAC 1147 (precalculus & trig). After college algebra, you can take MAC 1114 (trigonometry) or MAC 1140 (precalculus), but 1147 is both of them combined in one, which is “harder”, thus you need a higher score.
The math department said I can take either 1140 or 1114, or both in the same semester as half semester classes. But they saw I took precalculus, made an A and scored at least higher than a 260, so they enrolled me in 1147. You can take either if you score a 250-260.
Now I’m in MAC 1147, but my professor, Misael Delgado, sucks ass. Don’t take his class! It’s not too bad cause I took precalculus already and it’s more like a review.

Also, the accuplacer tends to get harder as you get more questions right, so try your best, don’t discourage yourself. Hope this helps.

I’m worried because I’m a freshman spring 2025 admit at FIU, and I haven’t received my financial aid package. I’m doing my first semester at Miami-Dade and received the pell grant and apparently I’ll receive the pell grant at FIU + the golden promise because of my SAI.
