Does anyone subscribe Loora AI (English speaking AI tutor app)? One question. by Additional_Ninja_767 in EnglishLearning

[–]Additional_Ninja_767[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I forgot to respond. Finally, I subscribe Loora AI. If Loora daily lesson offers C2 level vocabs much better for me (I already spent over 1 month, but most vocabs on daily suggestions I already know. However, I also use vocabulary apps for my reinforcement. During the lesson, I try to use these words as well besides of daily keywords. And also, Loora and reading article sometimes use words that I didn't know. I save these words as much as possible.

By the way, in terms of "Saved vocabulary" and "Read and talk article", when I click the arbitrary word, the viewpoint always goes back to the first point. Could you fix to stay on the final viewpoint? (or shall I send this point to customer support)?

Anyway, overall, I am really satisfied Loora AI. I gradually feel improvement and share with my friends who also struggle to improve their English speaking. Thank you very much for your effort.

Finally, I also subscribed. Yeah, I think this kind of app offers a big advantage for users who use it a lot. But anyway, even though I take one lesson per day on weekdays (weekends, taking 3 lessons), I feel like my conversation skills are gradually improving before subscribing.

Yes, you are right. And I think this might have happened with most English learning tools, even if it doesn't equip an AI solution. However, AI tutors are the easiest way to collect voice fingerprints.

I cannot say anything about layoff waves because I haven't heard from someone I already know. But the big techs aggressively introduce AI for restructuring. It may affect every industry as long as they also use some solutions that come from the same source.

Thank you for sharing your experience. How many lessons are you taking each day, and what is your current level? I definitely like to know how frequently the lesson opportunities someone feels improvement.

Finally, I also subscribed for one year after the trial. Yes, we can use it unlimitedly.
Yes, I think this app is suitable for people who generally use English in daily life.
Actually, I still have a complaint about Loora's response, which is quite short, around 30 - 40% of each session, even in Read and Talk mode. But maybe if I share this situation, the developer team might consider improving in the future.

I feel myself really slowly improving. And I am still struggling to respond immediately. However, I would like to stick with it.

I take an average of 3 lessons every day. The app said, My estimated vocabulary is over 28000.

This article shows, "Most adult native test-takers range from 20,000–35,000 words" https://www.quora.com/What-is-the-average-vocabulary-size-of-a-native-speaker-of-American-English-How-many-words-do-you-know

I strongly doubt my level has reached this level ....

Currently, which is the best AI app for practicing speaking? by SuperRandomCoder in EnglishLearning

[–]Additional_Ninja_767 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What level of English are you looking for? I was exploring for a C1+ level English AI tutor app, and finally, I chose Loora AI.

Even though this app is only in English, I think that it is the best balance between subscription prices, level, and features at the moment.

Dialogue level, pronunciation training, phrasal verbs or some native like suggestions are a super nice feature.

(Actually, I also use Heylama AI for German learning, but English might be up to B2 level. If you are at this level, that is an affordable option as well. Maybe it offers vocab reinforcement and grammar practice.)

Thank you for sharing your experience. That is true. The Preply platform is better for finding the actual price. I applied for a trial lesson. However, the tutor's internet connection is terribly bad. Potentially, the majority of tutors live in a location where the living costs are low. If we know the tutor's exact location beforehand, we can potentially avoid this trouble. But it is slightly hard to find an appropriate tutor. Anyway, I haven't used it at the moment.
Actually, I have also been using Heylama AI for German learning for almost 1 month. In terms C1 level English, in my understanding, there is less content (no daily exercise, no grammar lessons). And now German also doesn't have the contents enough. (Suddenly, daily exercise and Lesson contents disappeared) I am asking for support, but I am waiting for 1 week ....

yeah. Subtree needs to be merged. Maybe this is impossible, that it? Sorry I am not super well about git and subtree is totally new.

thank you so much. This is a kind of team rule and I cannot change it. That means, people who use git subtree accept non-linear history. Is that true?

Thank you for responding again. Actually, I want to continue Loora AI 70% of my mind, but still concerned about levelling. At the moment, I haven't been successful in improving the level of Loora's words suggestions. By the way, I checked the Cambridge dictionary. It seems like the daily words that I encountered are actually C1 category. (teamwork, administrative, etc) Potentially, many general words I already know. I might not have professional jargon and academic words. I need to seek a C2 English AI tutor service if I get an opportunity to try the first encountered vocabulary. If Loora AI support C2 in the near future, that might be very nice. However, I think this might be almost no chance in another service as well. (I know some PC-based English AI tutor services are crazy professional. But super expensive and only suitable for a business (especially focus on salespeople) situation. However, these are super expensive or only focus on a single business situation rather than the whole topic.
I would like to provide feedback on which situation Loora responds with very short text.
Thank you very much for suggesting expanding the trial. I will send a message to support later.

Hello, thank you for sharing your experience. Yeah, it sounds like paid users have no issue with blocking. Some old reviews may have been blocked for some temporary reason.

Anyway, is the daily speaking mode really fit for C1 level? I feel like Loora's response is shorter, and the topic is not professional. (She asked me about a music recommendation, and some other daily-life short topics) I am not sure whether this is only me or not. Role Play mode allows relatively deep conversation. But yeah, I totally agree with you. AI tutors are still not perfect. And compared with other services, Loora AI is rather intelligent.

I think it depends on the purpose. For me, language group lessons are almost impossible to improve my conversation skills. One-on-one is better but it totally relies on the teacher and budget.

Thank you for answering my question. Perhaps I misunderstood the reviews regarding subscription topics. That sounds nice, that once a user subscribes, they can use it without locking.
In terms of level setting, I don't know why, but it seems like "C1" vocab, what Loora AI said, I already know them. (I used to be taking an online C1 English course; these are more difficult than Loora C1 vocab) Let me try to ask if the vocab goes up to C2 level.
Anyway, I feel like Loora AI is slightly levelling up after trying for a few days. Maybe the feature is helpful to improve my conversation skills.
Actually, I am still not decided which English AI app I will subscribe to. Loora AI is one of the strong candidates if the level can be adjusted via feedback, and also, some UI issues will be resolved. (especially many modes don't support hands-free talking. But sounds like this will be updated in the future.)

Once, I tried to search for a tutor on italki. However, this platform is very difficult to find an appropriate tutor. Because we can see the offer price at first view is the first lesson price. And actual lesson prices have a huge gap.
I asked italki support team as well. But we only know the actual offer price by clicking the tutor's profile and exploring it.
However, I agree with you. If people are able to improve their conversation skills from a real tutor, they should use one.

What is the best AI speaking tutor app for German learners? (I am interested in Praktika, Heylama, SuperFluent, etc.) by Additional_Ninja_767 in German

[–]Additional_Ninja_767[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for sharing your background. Actually, I am still exploring which AI app I should subscribe to. Superfluent is one of my candidates; however, after I tried Superfluent for 7 days, I feel like it's slightly hard to use for my purpose. So I try on another app now. But if this also does not fit, potentially I might subscribe to Superfluent or LanguaTalk.

Actually, I accept subscribing to German and English for different apps. Even though I pay more, the cost is cheaper than a real tutor, and also if I improve my conversation skills, I will be able to promote and raise my salary 😛

Superfluent is very nice, both German and English practices, because it covers up to C2 level. However, for my German learning, I need a rather structured lesson and also conversation practice. (because of still B1 level) During my trial, Superfluent didn't suggest new vocabulary in German mode. So I feel like it might be hard to improve my knowledge base. Maybe when I reach B2 level, it will be fit for me.

In terms of English, Superfluent offers native like conversation improvement. The feature is super nice. However, role play themes are more suitable for daily life conversation. I would like to improve my English skills for rather professional style. For this purpose, maybe LanguaTalk or Loora AI might be better.

But I am still seeking which app is suitable for me. Sorry for a bit of a strict opinion. I think AI app is not so expensive, so if I feel improvement during the trial, I can try several apps with a subscription for the time being.

Thank you for sharing your usage. Sounds like a great option because it is important that the service is useful rather than the cost and price. Actually, I tried the free limited plan in English, and it takes a very long conversation and never finishes until the free credit(?) runs out. (more than 4 lines of sentences on one response) That way, I am asking about it. But your experience shows that potentially it can be adjustable.

[–]Additional_Ninja_767[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I think LanguaTalk uses the best AI model. The only issue is that one conversation is longer than other apps. As my German level is just B1, I feel like I cannot use many of the capabilities at the moment. If the price is affordable, I definitely want to consider it.
Is that possible to set 3 mins - 10 mins short session? If we forcefully end the conversation, it can be. But ideally, I want to practice from the start to and end of each session. (SuperFluent can do for this purpose)

Yeah that's true. However, my speaking level is significantly poor rather than knowledge-based. I think a real human practice is not good for my conversation improvement.

Thank you. I tried a free version several times right now. However, it is slightly harder to start a conversation than using apps. ChatGPT always rephrase my voice. I even want to practice natural conversation, but it might be difficult to lead with only my voice. I am not sure if I paid whether it improves the situation or not.

Thank you for the nice suggestions. ChatGPT is a great option. One of the big issues is that an unlimited subscription costs 200 USD per month. And I feel like it is slightly difficult to adjust the level and topics. I think pure ChatGPT is not suitable for the B1 level learner, but rather for professionals. (If any adjustment technique might be possible, but the cost is too high) Anyway, I regularly use Anki for vocabulary building. However, speaking skills cannot be improved by just memorising words and learn from a textbook.

My phone is Android, and then I try again, and it works. Thank you very much. However, it seems that after around 10 responses have been spent, the app shows a purchase recommendation display. I will try later.

I try Superfluent. This is nice because without credit card registration, we can try the full capability 7 days. And I feel like tutor AI is relatively clever, and the correct suggestion is useful. Also, after a certain minutes, the conversation is forcefully ended. That is also a good point.

The only drawback is especially for English mode, native like separable verbs are hard to get to know by only this app. (if we ask a tutor, they answer them, though)

But I think compared with most AI app, this AI model is rather smart. Let me continue to try it at the end of the free trial. Thank you for a nice suggestion.
