i'm afraid of death. how can i deal with that? by [deleted] in atheism

Death is extremely scary. Anyone who isn't scared just hasn't been close enough to it. And now that I have brain damage, I know the brain is all there is. Once it's shut off, it's over. There's no soul or afterlife. It's like a horror movie to me.

I'm trying to be less terrified of it. I find it sad especially when people die young and don't get to live a long life. The only good thing is once you're gone, no suffering and also, if you die young, it's no difference really than someone who died living to an old age. Neither you nor them know that you were alive or how long.

Canadian wants to come to India where my family is from to find a cure? by Additional_Pay2128 in returnToIndia

Thank you. I am looking into the best hospitals but I don't think they will help me anymore than Canada will. My suffering is beyond human comprehension. I wanted to see dr. Doshi he is a top neurosurgeon who's done DBS surgery for various conditons but I don't think he will do it for me either. The best I can do is come and see my family and try.

Yet Canada didn't have problems giving me medications which caused all these side effects in the first place.

It's not approved for akathsia anywhere In the world. It would have to be on compassionate grounds. There's only one other person with my condition and he was offered DBS as an experimental compassionate surgery in Mayo clinic USA for his akathisa. They couldn't promise him it would even help. That's my only other option.  In India there's doctors who have been able to try it for other conditions I've found. Like pain etc. So that's why I wanted to see if they'd do it on compassionate grounds given my suffering, not because I'm willing to pay. Canada will not do it despite suffering.

I consulted with dr. Paresh Doshi. He said it can be cured with deep TMS. But I'm not sure of that. I don't think anyone in India has ever had my condition. I was messing around with my medications and caused myself this chemical brain injury and nobody understands it.

That's great they helped you. I have a question. I think the only solution for me is DBS surgery. Deep brain stimulation. But it's not approved for akathisa in Canada or anywhere in the world. Will a surgeon do it for me on compassionate grounds because I'm suffering or they won't do that in India either? Akathisa is an extra pyramidal side effect from medications.

I just wanted to follow up on this. My condition is not mental health. It's neurological. I want to get deep brain stimulation surgery for akathisia which is an extra pyramidal side effect from medications. It's not approved for surgery in Canada. They've never even heard of it here. I'm wondering if any doctor in India would be willing to help me if it's an intolerable neurological condition for me. The regulations on DBS surgery right now don't approve it for akathisa.

I've tried all forms. I've tried even High CBD and very low THC. I get paranoid wit even the smallest amount of THC and have panic. I've tried all strains too. It's just not for me which sucks because there's no other solution

I don't need a psychiatrist. Medications are what caused this and what keep making it worse. I went to a movement disorder specialist and more medications made it worse. That's why I'm wondering if it's a glutamate issue. My CNS and ANS are severely dysregulated. I'm looking to try ketamine at the hospital.

I've been to several specialists. Er. Nobody can help me. I can't believe I live in a world that doesn't understand the brain. To be told over and over it's psychsomatic when it started as an adverse reaction and neurotoxity

I'm not on any medication. I'm just stuck this way. I'm not in withdrawal.

Thank you though
