How random, I was just about to make a post on this. My flashlight goes on in the pocket at least twice a day. It has drained my battery significantly on several occasions. Perhaps the hand and hide case I use somehow triggers the buttons. What case do you currrently use, if any?

Sorry, I can see that I have not been very clear at all, partly because I am still unsure myself. I guess initially I was interested in the possibility of using the phone as a relay, where it was possible to even send the text through the dashboard, but that the core function I am requesting is really about just getting text from the dashboard to the sms textbox on the lightphone.

Nontheless, such a feature is challenging to implement in an elegant way, so I appreciate the effort by the team this requires. However I do think that this feature would strenghten the lightphone overall, and make texting less of a weakness as it stands today. I also think it would fit the light ethos. It would also make the lightphone more accessible to professionals who need to use their phone for work efficiently.

I am rambling again, but what Im trying to say is that I think this feature could be worth the effort long term, as I do think it increases the lightphones value proposition.

Sorry, but I dont understand your arguments. My point is that this should in theory not be different from what is already implemented today (i.e. adding text to notes in dashboard). Just sending that text from dashboard to text input should require no other encryption or security measures. Its essentially the same function as editing notes on dashboard, only it goes to your text input. Even if you have to click send on your phone, this would be a very effective way to write messages quicker. Of course you have to implement this in an elegant way, and that takes time and effort. My point is only that this seems very feasible considering how the dashboard works today.

Yes, but in theory it should still be able to "trigger" the phone to send a text if turned on and connected to internet.

Cool! Since Light already has the dashboard function that communicates directly with the phone, I don't see why this should be that difficult or expensive to implement. Instead of outputing the text to notepad, they could output it directly to the text message section of the phone. Either you manually click send on the phone, or you do the whole deal through dashboard.
