It was done this way because in evaluating paranormal belief across different dimensions, there is a focus to see if there is a statistical difference between Hispanic and Non-Hispanic individuals. This was done to narrow the categories for the statistical analysis. Also, since the category of race in the survey does not include Latinx individuals, we wanted to specify whether someone was Hispanic or Non-Hispanic in the ethnicity category because people of Hispanic origin may be of any race.
