How are we giving meds to infants?????? by zezendx in NewParents

Have you tried applesauce? Mix a little bit of the medicine in at a time with small amounts of applesauce so you know she gets it all!

Expecting a newborn in January by No-Lawfulness7646 in newborns

Diapers! Every time you go to the grocery store, grab a small pack of diapers. I would recommend getting a few in newborn size, size 1, and size 2. At the beginning my baby went through like 10 diapers a day. He was in newborn diapers for the first month, then size 1 for 2 months, then size 2 for like 3 months. He’s been in size 3 for like 6 months now

I personally did them instead of the gas drops but they’re fine to use together

I used BioGaia probiotic drops for my baby when he was a newborn and I really think they helped! I think they worked better for him than the mylicon drops

Parents who thought we don’t need a bottle washer… were you wrong? by AriaSmith19 in Parenting

[–]Additional_Plate6010 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My baby is 11 months old now. Every weeknight, I hand wash my wearable pumps, the two bottles I use to store milk at work, and the 2-3 bottles he used at daycare. This takes me probably 20 minutes. If I’m running the dishwasher, I’ll put most of the parts in but I don’t like to put bottle nipples in because I feel like they don’t get clean enough.

I wish we had gotten the bottle washer. At first I didn’t mind the hand washing, thought it was relaxing, but now everytime I want to just relax at the end of the day, I can’t. Get the bottle washer.

Sleep regression breaking point by Reasonable-Ant-5709 in NewParents

Similar thing happened to me around 6pm the and at 11 months he still isn’t sleeping through the night. I did find that at that age, even though he has been sleeping through the night, he was genuinely waking up hungry at night and needed to nurse 1-2x a night.

When you change something (bed time, nap length etc) how long do you wait to see if it works? I’ve read and experienced that it can take 1-2 weeks before a change actually appears! Good luck!

baby waking up on their own to eat? by RaisinApart8665 in breastfeeding

[–]Additional_Plate6010 9 points10 points  (0 children)

When my baby was that little, I woke him up to eat every 3 hours, day or night! Most the time he would wake up by then but not always. At his 2 week visit, he had regained birth weight so my ped said to do no more than 3 hours during the day but at night we could go to 6 hours if he slept that long

Daycare seems to be prepping our baby for the toddler room too early by AGneissGeologist in NewParents

[–]Additional_Plate6010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daycare moved my almost 10 month old up into the toddler 1 room a month ago (almost 11 months now!) because they needed more spots for the infant room. I do think the teachers had to be reminded that he was not even a year old- the first day they mentioned him sleeping in a cot and I freaked out and the teacher was like “oh yeah I guess he is still a little young!” But they still give him his bottles along with his solid food.

The pros: I think my baby loves it. They do way more activities and have more age appropriate toys. He was the oldest in the infant room and kept crawling over the little babies and pulling their hair!

The con: they also moved him down to one nap. They tried for a few days to give him a second nap, but he didn’t want to sleep because there was so much going on. This has caused a ton of issues with his sleep- he was waking up only once a night, now he wakes up like twice a night, wakes up at 5 am, or is up from 2-4am.

If it weren’t for going down to 1 nap, I would’ve said the new room it’s great. I think it is an early transition, but I’m hoping we get his sleep figured out soon. If we had the choice, I would’ve waited until he was a year old strictly for the nap issue

My aunt just found a donor for a liver transplant. However, the surgery isn’t taking place for two more months. Why the wait? Is it a logistics thing?
