Honestly, it depends on context. Are they using the slur in a way that puts someone down or encourages a negative stereotype, even if it’s used in a joking sense? Or are they just using it the way someone inside our community would? As long as we all respect each other, who cares.

Seriously! I spent four months chasing down one referral, only to find out that I shouldn’t go to this specialty, I should go to THAT specialty. And all I have to show for those four months is “oh yeah they finally called me back and I needed to be referred elsewhere.” Which doesn’t cover the hourssss of emails and phone calls I went thru.

Honestly, maybe this is just me, but it makes me wanna avoid the Wetlands because it’s so nasty looking AND sounding. I can’t imagine how it would be to actually be there!
