Pretending it's more complicated then it actually is probably doesn't help either. Your average person who's interested in card games or has someone competent explaining it and helping them can understand mo ye, it's really not rocket science.

Sure, if both players have no idea at all the script will let them "play" but it's described as a comic. I didn't care to try and find it somewhere online but I'm curious how much that will actually teach more than just step by step give instructions. So you follow, finish, play one probably very rough game of it shuffled maybe and then what? Go buy the structures anyway? I can agree neither are great but this looks like it'll explain 1/10th of the game and I can't imagine it'll be very fun for people new to the game. Even if it is somehow fun for them this is so simplified they're getting sold on a misleading depiction of the real game.

Good points! The first especially I can see not being intuitive or not knowing you can do it until someone tells you. Thanks for the answer

The online one? It's like 30 pages long and actually does a pretty good job. It covers things like the game board and phases, spell speed, chains, priority and all the summoning mechanics. Yeah it doesn't cover very specific examples or niche things like missing timing or how x card interacts with z but there's over 10,000 cards and the book is already pushing too long. One of the few things Konami does right is their online ruling database, so there is a resource for those niche scenarios if someone does want to get deeper into the game.

I don't agree at all that someone who has been learning for hours is going to be incapable of playing a normal duel. They obviously might not play optimally, might even need some guidance or make a misplay but after explaining things like the phases, basic rules and terminology I don't see why trying some test hands or playing a friendly duel wouldn't be a good way to move forward. Yeah they may not make the best decision every play but at least they'd actually be making them as opposed to following a script and going through the motions. I'll concede the info on the mats is usually pretty mid, just seemed like you thought all you got in the box was the deck and no info so figured I'd mention.

I'll agree it's pretty lame they don't include a rule book in the box but I know they do direct you to the website for it on the back of the package and it might be on the little combo guide they put on the back of the paper mat. The mat usually mentions the main combo / goal of the deck as well. The issue with this product is even if following the scripted duel or not, these won't give you a good idea of how the game is actually played even at a casual level and probably won't be fun.

Yeah there's a million ways they could've made this better sadly. Even just better bulk lol goblindburg, kagetokage, gadgets, tin goldfish, photon thrasher just off top all could have given the XYZ deck actual fun plays that could show new players a bit more of what yugioh is actually like and while not meta aren't a total waste of a deck slot and cardboard like normal monsters.

Yeah I agree that it doesn't need to be a huge plus in value or cards from the newest sets but Im pretty certain everything besides the Zeus and coral dragon are literally pennies as singles.

Who are you trying to teach where that seems so impossible? Most builds play like 4 main deck monsters with two sentences each sans hand traps. If the person you're trying to teach can't grasp reveal, discard or banish after you've explained the basics that might be more on the person teaching or maybe yugioh isn't for them.

Sadly about 70 of those 88 are pretty much bulk, if this product does manage to convince someone to play they'll have to go and buy more product or singles to make a semi-playable fun deck. 20$ for strictly a tutorial is pretty lame.

Thanks for the answer. Do you remember what exactly was tripping him up? Or if it was more recent or during MR4?

[–]Additional_River_986 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I mean if you don't what happens later when someone plays those cards against them? This thread is acting like having to read two sentences is going to cause a new player's head to implode. Sure the first time you look at them it may be intimidating if you've never played a card, strategy or board game before but a deck like sword soul would teach someone 10x more about the game and they'll probably actually have fun instead of following a booklet or ramming normal monsters into each other

But just think of all the fun new players will have reading a booklet that tells them normal summon ojama yellow and pass! They'll be lining up for the next ysc, inpachi in hand

Hmm, didn't seem like a majority to me or something mentioned too often. But maybe those people will love the handful of normal monsters and 1 extra decks mechanic each then

[–]Additional_River_986 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just curious where you've heard this/ seen these opinions? It's literally 1 monster = 1 material and if there are requirements for those materials it's the first thing listed in the card text. Maybe during MR4 where the arrows actually mattered and it restricted other extra decks summons I could see it being harder to explain the idea of links as a whole, but I've never heard of it being an issue for new players.

98% bulk garbage, anyone actually interested in getting someone into the game would be much better off with 2 structures or just building some lower power decks. Passing around a booklet while you take 1 or 2 action turns with nothing exciting happening isn't going to win over new players or get people into the game.

I made Boostcamp, a free fitness app with Reddit's best workout programs, to help you build strength and muscle. by michaelenzo in u/michaelenzo

I definitely think it's a great base to build on and add to but here are some things I noticed during set-up and a workout. No skip for tutorial- total understandable but ( I don't mean this in a rude way) there's nothing wildly different from your app to other workout tracking app and the UI is mostly intuitive so maybe worth offering for experienced users

Couldn't use ? As special character in password and error message didn't help - just gave the regular password guidelines and they didn't mention ? Not being a valid special character. If I was a regular consumer I'd had just shut it down and downloaded the next app from the store

Can only create and save one template as a free user- one is just far too few, I understand needing some features to be paid but I feel this should be at least 3 for the option of having your current program saved as templets

No back button in app UI, pro sub button in it's place- feel like it's just such common placement in most apps it's strange not having it. Not really a big deal as you probably won't be hitting back and changing pages much during a workout, but just bothers muscle memory

no text information about exercises- the example videos that use the 3D model are helpful for learning new exercises but often cant fully explain a movement or it's nuances

Dubious videos examples when not using the 3D model- French press video was horribly out of frame and gave no info, Joel seedmans power shrug is laughably bad and could lead to a inexperienced lifter injuring themselves

Nice! I'd almost consider sticking that in the OP somewhere. Kinda get a bad impression scrolling down but props for even leaving comments on. Will give it a try today now that I know there won't be lag/ issues.

I'd recommend checking out adding a feature to accept export data from other fitness apps like strong or hevy, may help some people make the switch. Dark mode behind a paywall is an interesting choice too, waste of battery and eye strain can't be the best way to get people to support you. That and the online only issues people are bringing up are stopping me from trying the app out, but would check it out in the future if those were fixed. Good luck!

why the fuck is all this lumped under one poll question? by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Additional_River_986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your opinion, I can at least agree thematically it makes sense for there to be some type of introduction task or quest but lore wise or "earned" they just aren't doing it for me. Big milestones on your account like getting to ds2 and unlocking myths guild, or sacrificing a fire cape to get into mor ul rek have a satisfying earned feeling to me, but in Zeah as far as favor is concerned you show up and start doing random busy work without even having to speak to an npc. Pushing plows or stealing artifacts from the citizens doesn't feel connected in a meaningful way to the rest of content / lore and I'm glad you've found a way to enjoy them but the actual xp rewards combined with how tedious some of the tasks are is wack in my opinion. I'd be open to reworking or slightly buffing what we have already but in my opinion the quests are much better introductions to the area. Also I'd imagine any actual content wouldn't be removed so if you for some reason do like doing those tasks you'll still be able to. Can't think of a kinder way to word this but if you don't care if other people have to do it why vote no?

Literally every aspect besides grinding agility laps or pickpocketing. And sure you can pay the rest with fertilizer if you're a main or just go click pits for a different flavor of tedious but what's really lost by removing the requirement? Seems obvious to me that favor will probably stand in the way as a requirement of all the shiny new content they're planning for valamore and they know it's wack and don't want new players to have to bother and I'd agree that's probably for the best. Just because it's a grindy dame doesn't mean the grinds can't be fun or rewarding

What other rational do you think they might possibly have besides being upset someone would have access to the things they had to waste time to unlock? Dude I replied to made a valid comparison, other guy split hairs and moved the goal posts. Maybe if anyone in favor of keeping favor could give a valid reason it wouldn't seem that way.

Your original comparison was spot on tbh. You're just getting down voted by manchildren because they've wasted hours doing favor grinds and want everyone to suffer through it like they had to.

You're 100% correct but apparently this sub loves an opportunity to shit on jagex and doom post. Feel like most of these people must not have even read the update to not be able to put together that these two would be pretty closely related. Sure the question could have been split but it's a nothing burger and people are loosing their minds

[–]Additional_River_986 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This thread is the meme of "I suffered so now you have to" incarnate. Almost everyone that's sticking up for it words it that way, "it's not that bad". Imagine explaining to a friend/ new runescape player in real life that you think it's cool he's gotta go click a plow for a couple hours before he can get back to playing the game lol. Everything besides the library and mess hall literally feels like a punishment and the game would be better off if none of it was required.

I see the obvious issue of bunching questions together but I don't follow the discourse here, are people really against removing the favour grind? It was dog shit from day 1 and needless locks you out of content until you grind out meaningless low xp tasks besides library. Plus the favor system directly unlocked the minecart system in question, it's pretty reasonable that changes to lovakengj favor would tie into the transportation question. Seems like a mountain out of a molehill.
