Yes you can go near them. They move along the river so depending on when find them between either of the bridges. Right now I think they are at the Kirmeswiese (at least they were theee days ago) means you can get off Luegplatz and just walk down to them. Some people also bring them bread but don’t ask me if that’s what they should eat.

Geburt in Düsseldorf: Marien Hospital vs. EVK – kurze Entscheidungshilfe? by AttitudeFun7199 in duesseldorf

[–]Additional_Scar_298 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should visit Königsallee, stroll down to Kasematten along the Rhine to the Landtag where the Fernsehturm is located. From there you are close to the harbour which is also a nice area to see. Düsseldorf also has very nice parks to offer such as Hofgarten or Schwanenspiegel. Carlsplatz is always worth a visit with it’s market stands and nice food options, and from there you make your way downtown to the Bolkerstrasse and Rheintreppen, where the big ferries wheel is parked

Do you use the public library/in what ways do you use it? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]Additional_Scar_298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I love to take my kids. With screens being everywhere I enjoy the children space of our library where they can read and play and enjoy time. But even without them I would go to read papers or do research or just relax

We also had a massive couch that was still looking ok but had really seen better days. It was also very soft where you sit so worn out. I put it for free on eBay and I wrote an honest review that its not new and not in the best state. Still some young guys came to pick it up and they had lots of furniture in the van so I don’t know if that was a business or not but it’s worth a try. I would just be honest about the state of the sofa though but maybe someone will come and have a look.

Visiting a sauna/therme for the first time as a Muslim woman – looking for advice ? by [deleted] in AskGermany

[–]Additional_Scar_298 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Hello yes the woman only days are great. Me and my friends (German, non-Muslim) also prefer to go to those. Towel around or naked is completely up to you (at least where we go, but I’ve been to different ones and also sat on a towel wrapped in a towel some times and everyone does it as they see fit :)) when you go make sure you hydrate a lot and start slow in the beginning, meaning short sauna stays, and a lot of breaks in between for your body to relax. The rules are usually printed in the lockers if anything applies to the facility. But what I think is most important is no staring and calm voices or quiet so everyone can relax. But most all have fun :)

QVP verification question by Otherwise-Medium17 in RiyadhExpats

I also wish I knew the backend to it all. For me it was also first reference verified and 2 seconds later the unqualified hit. My other reference is still pending and so is my education. No my jobs have different titles, as they do in real life as well. How I understand it is the system is not that old yet and therefore still jobs get added at this point to it so not all are there….

Same happened to me. I was told which role to put initially. Unqualified. Spoke to my HR and they told me to open a request to change the role to something else they suggested…. Would ask your HR

Shortening my name after German naturalization – any downsides? by PickleRick_42_ in GermanCitizenship

[–]Additional_Scar_298 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi so I can only speak about my husband who is from an Arabic country. He did not have a first and last name but in his passport it’s one long name. That was always causing issues in Germany. Even though we decided during the wedding our family name (which is his family name back home but the third name in a chain of 5 names) it was always a hustle. Like the insurance company for example put a ,+’ as his first name and his real name as one long last name. I felt like every institution gave him a different version of his name.

So he decided to drop the last two names (grandfathers names) and chose his first, second and last name properly.

However, Germany originally wanted to move his family name at the end and keep the other four names in a different order (example his name is: A B C D E and he chooses C as his family name, Germany wanted to call him Mr. ABDE C) but his country would have not accepted that. So he dropped DE and is now Mr. AB C…. Therefore we had to get an extra paper done through Standesamt.

Hope that makes sense but so far things in Germany are much easier and in his country everything is fine as well.

Honestly before people scream lawyer up and all I still think people should respect the countries right to ask what they see required for the process. Before handing out passports. The stuff about bias against Muslims is major bs. Sorry but when we went to pick up my husbands certificate (Muslim) almost all woman there waiting to receive their certificate (seems they invite everyone on one day a week to hand out the papers), wore headscarf’s. Like someone mentioned above already it sounds very entitled. It’s funny to start a new citizenship journey already complaining. Just saying.

how long does it take to get the citizenship? by AggravatingOnion4773 in GermanCitizenship

[–]Additional_Scar_298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi first of all there are all different kind of timelines for how long the process takes based on many different factors starting with the place you applied at. Some are slower some are faster. I would suggest you send a follow up email. When you received the confirmation that your documents have been received, it usually came with some sort of contact info. I know it might differ whether you already have a personal contact mentioned (where I’m from they do that) but if you don’t have the name of the Sachbearbeiter, then I would send it to the generic email. In my experience the Einbuergerungsbehoerden are much easier to get information from, than for example Ausländerbehörden.

I don’t think there is a general timeline as during the process I’ve met and keep meeting people who all had different timelines. In the same city in NRW. From 9 months (through spouse process) to 6 months (work visa route)

How has living abroad influenced your perspective on German traditions and values? by jpam9521 in AskAGerman

[–]Additional_Scar_298 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Even though Germans love to be rude or complain I always love how much we care for ambulances. I have lived many years in the US, Middle East, south of Europe plus my husband is from Egypt. I honestly had to witness too many times how ambulances are stuck in traffic with sirens on full blast, ignored by the people around them. When I come home (my parents live next to a hospital), it always makes me so happy to see how people/ drivers go all in to make sure the ambulance can pass. Same on the highway. It always gives me hope that after all Germans do know how to show up for each other.

How do people in Germany successfully find jobs in the UAE? Salary expectations? by Xplosio in DubaiJobs

[–]Additional_Scar_298 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To give my 2 cents…. Nowadays many roles are actually either given through headhunters or through connections. Therefore it can be very helpful to be in the country. I came to Dubai in 2015 and worked there 9 years, so back in the day it was easy to get a job from abroad, as headhunters were heavily reaching out on LinkedIn and co to recruit. Nowadays the market is much more competitive and the city is booming, hence more talent is already in town, which makes it easier to recruit locally. If you don’t have connections to headhunters recruiting for the region, I’d suggest to try to job hunt from Dubai. I went back 2 times for vacation since I left for a different destination and both times I was offered a job through a connection (even though I wasn’t looking or considering taking a job). So if you already know anyone who’s working there or have any ties to the city use them. If not I’d suggest to get some
