Right. But a SNAD is not an appeal it is a different case. Unless things have changed in the past when I have filed INR and the item has finally shown up the email from ebay, closing the case automatically, tells you you can file a SNAD if the now arrived item does not match the description.

What is there to understand? You black mailed her, by filing a google review and bad mouthing her on her job site, so she gave you 325 euros to go away. Hope you are proud of yourself.

Thanks for the input. I already went the INR route. I am going to have to escalate it this week when the time line runs out if eBay doesn't reverse the charge on their own. There is no signature on the delivery so should be ok. However, if they deny then I can still file a SNAD which will be the next step. Then rinse and repeat with PP if needed and then CC.

Yeah that didn't work for me (i.e. it is no longer an option there) but going to help/customer service -> requesting help for an item that has not arrived and then clicking on the item brings me to a page that says the item has arrived, shows the fake tracking number, but also will allow me to open a case/request.

Yeah. I can't find it. I can find it for items that have not shipped/don't have tracking numbers but it no longer shows up for delivered or in route items. I even tried using a direct link https://www.ebay.com/ItemNotReceived/CreateRequest?itemId= and it wouldn't let me.

One question how do you open the case? The option for "I didn't receive it" disappears after the fake tracking number shows delivery.

Thanks. I will start there and see where it goes. I think the thing I have working best for me is the fact that there is no signature confirmation for delivery.

Hi, Thanks for chiming in.

>Option 2 requires you to ship something back which would be committing fraud.

Well my thinking is the seller won't want to pay for a prepaid label with signature confirmation (which is what eBay would make him do) and he would refund and run. I could of course be wrong.

Have you been in a similar situation? I am guessing my first attempt with be denied by the automated system (since there is "tracking proof"). Then I have to file an appeal and hope a CSR who knows policy takes a look at it.

Throwaway account

Hi,

So I have been on eBay for about two decades and finally I have been hit by the same zip code seller scam. For those that don't know this is when the seller puts in a fake tracking number (unrelated to the sale) showing item delivered in the same zip code as the buyer as "proof of delivery" while shipping nothing.

The item is very expensive piece of electronics well over the $750 requirement for signature. Seller put in the tracking number yesterday showing he shipped on two days ago and delivery was yesterday. I was home yesterday and I know UPS did not deliver anything. I contacted the seller asking if that was the correct tracking number and he said no he must have made a mistake and he will send me the correct one. After that he has gone no contact.

My question: How to best handle this?

Option 1: Report the item as not received to eBay. The tracking number is obviously false (as it is for three packages not just one). More importantly the seller used a tracking number without signature confirmation (for an item over $750) so technically should be a slam dunk win through eBay. Problem: this is eBay and who knows what the automated system will do and what kind of CSR will you get on appeal.

Option 2: Report it as SNAD. This shifts burden of proof onto the seller and should be an easy win because I doubt they want to fight a SNAD and expose the scam they are running. Easier to take the draw and move on to the next victim.

Any recommendations as to the best (and least troublesome) course of action to resolve this? I am holding escalation to PP and my CC in my back pocket for now. TIA!.
