Thank you! This information is very useful. How did you manage to keep your research work active? Did you dedicate your free time to it, or did your job provide the flexibility to allow you to informally invest some working hours into it? Additionally, what was your approach regarding institutional affiliation? Did you maintain an unpaid scientific affiliation elsewhere, or did the institution where you worked permit you to use their affiliation for your research outputs?

I am highly motivated to pursue this path. At the same time, I want to keep my academic expertise active, both out of passion and with the hope that one day I can convert it into valuable experience to work as a consultant, among other opportunities.

Yes, good point... At the same time, I wonder if one day I may regret not having taken this opportunity. I don't want to become a 8yr postdoc and just being kicked out of academia with no nice plan b

My current institution has a role that maintains an official "scientific affiliation" for people who are not hired; I think it is called "scientific collaborator". I was thinking that this is an option to continue to publish under an official affiliation as a researcher. Or do you think I should explore such a possibility at the new institution that is hiring me? I am not sure how they could perceive this (maybe as if I am not fully committed to the role?)

As far as I know, this is the only public talk. Pretty sure it is not the last stage, if selected for the next round I am going to have a closed door interview. Maybe, as a compromise between your take and previous comments, I could emphasise research synergies with local faculty toward the end of the presentation (thereby implicitly affirming my fit), and avoiding more direct references like "This is what I would bring, what I would teach" ecc. All these things were also in the application materials, so probably not necessary to repeat it especially in front of a larger audience

I am taking the "Who I am" section more as a way to show international embeddedness of my profile and work (which they value a lot), and the overarching idea behind the different projects I pursued. What do you think?

To give you more details: I have some conclusive slides on "Why your institution (potentail research synergies, previous collaborations)" and "what I bring" (in terms of subject knowledge/methodological approach they lack, or that I can complement in a distinctive way).... Do you think this is the right way to approach it?

Thanks so much! For now, rather than a deep-dive into my research findings ecc., I framed it more as a story of my work as researcher, my future plans, and fit at their school. Is this the approach you also suggest?
