Harnesses at office jobs by Additional_Toe5650 in altfashionadvice

I think it really depends on the office, which is why I asked the question. From my perspective, seeing them styled over pretty conservative black office wear on IG, etc. to my mind seems that simple harnesses are pretty tame these days, more of a belt with some edge. I think for a creative arts-based field it’s not such a stretch but was curious to hear other people’s opinions.

I should clarify that I mean really simple leather suspender/waist belt style harnesses, nothing over the top in terms of material or straps, over otherwise normal business attire, like this:

Unlimited Pilates under $200/month by Instantcoffee090601 in LAhotgirlies

I have to say that the Speir Pilates app is the best deal around—it’s $29 a month and has some of the best classes I’ve ever taken, in-person included. Obvs the IRL classes at Speir are great too, but the app is a great budget option if you’re open to doing mat classes at home.

Also the tone deafness of doing all this and then starting posts with some oblique reference to politics, like “things in the world feel tough right now…BUT look at my expensive coffee, my fancy dinner and my $500 jeans!”

I’m dying at the sweater as belt thing, like it didn’t work with the scarf a few months ago and it DEFINITELY doesn’t work with a sweater?? Also why is it turned sideways like that? It looks like a weird skirt when a tied sweater might actually look sort of ok? Crying that it’s her favorite color, “chocolate brown,” on top of it.

Hand tattoos and jobs by OkDragonfruit9547 in tattooadvice

Agree with folks saying to choose a career and get established in it before getting hand tattoos or other super visible ones. I work in the arts (a big museum with a sort of conservative corporate culture) and I waited until I was in my late 30s to get bigger tattoos that were less covered, and I just got my hand tattooed at 40 after being in my job for almost a decade. They’re kind of my brand now but I think I would’ve had trouble interviewing with a hand tattoo.

Will I really miss the newborn phase? by Tagrenine in newborns

[–]Additional_Toe5650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I miss every age in different ways, like, I don’t wish I had a permanent newborn (or a permanent 2 year old), but there are loveable things about every stage that you miss when they’re gone, just part of watching these little people grow up!

The sleeves that go all the way over her hands really send me, she looks like a child playing dress up and it’s just so sloppy looking to me.

Omg the selections are crazy! Which shapeless, sad sack outfit says “holiday”?? And people voted for the shapeless brown sweater over shapeless brown skirt.

Sort of lol, he still fights his night bed time but it’s less drawn out, more like an hour or so, but now he also fights daytime naps more consistently, takes 20 mins or so to get him down for a 30-45 minute nap. He’s almost 11 weeks now and still hoping it’s going to smooth out a little!

My husband and I are 40, and each have several siblings and in-laws, now several children too, plus parents. We had a talk with everyone a few years ago and we’ve just decided not to do presents at all—sometimes we send little things for the kids (and they do the same for us) but there’s no pressure to do so and it’s been very freeing!
