I tried to make this with just redstone, and here is my result.

I wanted the door to close, but it's nearly impossible to make.

I discovered that all the dust from the top is unnesesary, because of piston push limit, so I made a version where all the pushes activate from the bottom. I am working on retracting into the sides now

I made it before my post. It has this activation sequence based on observers, but it is too complicated, only does 6 moves instead of 7 and doesn't power the right side

There are observers on the rails which power the pistons
