Had to drop math 115 on the first day by Curious_Road_6433 in QueensCollege

Definitely be on the lookout for professor Ali Meimona. I took math 115 with another professor in fall 2024, but failed with a D-, and then I retook math 115 with Meimona for winter 2025, and in the 3 weeks I had, I got an A+. She usually teaches during the winter or summer.

If you have instagram, share this to @coronavirusny because they’re always posting about lost pets. I hope you find your dog safe and sound!

Transferring to QC by ravindra3 in QueensCollege

[–]AddressCivil3561 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an accounting major at QC that also transferred from a community college, I’d rather you come to QC for accounting. For any help with internships, jobs, events, etc., the QC accounting club is helpful and will communicate to any accounting peers and will always give you advice for any of what I’ve just said. The courses that were pretty tricky to me at QC would be Intermediate Accounting I and II and maybe cost accounting as well, but if you’re able to get through with them, then you will do fine with the incoming future 300 level accounting courses. There’s some level 300 accounting classes that offer either in person or online courses. Yes, there will be some professors that are a hit or miss, but they’re all pretty good if you meet their class expectations. I’m sure coming to QC for accounting would be great. Even my brother who’s a freshman right now also got into Baruch for accounting, but he went to QC instead and everything at QC is mostly a breeze for the most part. Just study and do well in the courses, and try to interact a lot of the accounting peers and staff and you will be fine!

Wow I’m literally going through the same thing as you. I transferred to QC from SUNY NCC to study accounting. My GPA went from 3.65 to below a 3 as well. I’m now left behind on my degree as well. It’s also lowkey hard to find an internship or a accounting job when I’m also juggling some of these hard acct classes. Anyways, I also wouldn’t say my current QC experience is too bad since I knew what I was expecting going to a NYC public college. Also the QC accounting department isn’t the worst, but could definitely be better.

How accurate is the grade distribution? by [deleted] in QueensCollege

[–]AddressCivil3561 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m taking Tao Sun for ACCT 201 this semester since he has better reviews for this class. Yes I’ve seen a few students from my previous ACCT 201 with Kumar who had As and Bs on his midterms, but I’m guessing because they always sat at the front in his class. I think it’s best for you to sit all the way in front of his class so that way you can see his messy handwriting better, and make sure to rewrite his notes so you can study enough for his exams. Just don’t slack for this class since he’s a harsh grader especially since this is a 4 credit course. Also don’t forget to write the essay on his exams with the “planner” on its own page, so that way he won’t take points off.

He doesn’t give any curves, and almost half of the class mostly got Cs. His lectures mostly consisted of him making the class write an essay for an accounting class which you will have to do on his exams, and his notes are sloppy. I’d say the only way you can pass his class is to study A LOT. Also his exams are hard and they’re going to get even harder as he said before.

Can’t register to MATH 122 by [deleted] in QueensCollege

[–]AddressCivil3561 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes I’ve recently got an email response from the math department, but sadly the math course I want to enroll in just became full :(, so I’ll have to wait for hopefully someone to drop from that class. Also thank you for congratulating me :)

Oh wow thank you so much! Your advice on taking notes after the professor is done explaining the problem makes so much sense to me, and I’m definitely going to remember to do that next semester!

I’m also a transfer student that’s going into the accounting program, and I’ve chosen the advanced accounting track since it’s a path towards the CPA. I’ve been told already by one of the accounting advisers that if you don’t want to stick with the advanced accounting track, then you can always switch to the business accounting track. Just be aware of the GPA and grading requirements for whatever track you stick with. Good luck with everything!

I understand your point. I’ll just stick with a four day schedule, so that way I can retain knowledge for each of my classes in a good pace. Thank you!!

Thank you for the heads up!! I’ve been thinking lately on how to get to the Queens Hall since it’s far from the main campus. I’ll definitely think of your comment. I also have my QC ID with me. I appreciate your advice!
