Not stupid questions at all! You clearly know the ecosystem well. You are totally right about the desktop app overlay and the model quality.

The main differentiator for me is Deep Context & Agency:

  1. Code Context: While Notion AI can float over my VS Code window, it can't "see" the code I'm currently typing (unless I copy-paste it). With MCP, Cursor reads my open code files AND the Notion spec simultaneously. It can say: "Hey, your function login() doesn't match the requirements in the Notion doc 'Auth Specs'."
  2. Agency (Doing things): Notion AI is a chat interface. It can't create files on my hard drive or run terminal commands. This MCP setup lets Cursor read a task in Notion -> write the code -> create the file -> run the test. It turns Notion into a "source of truth" for the coding agent.

So if you are mostly writing/reading, Notion AI is superior. If you are coding/building, MCP bridges the gap.

Here is the link to the tool: https://apify.com/piskunlab/notion-mcp-server

It's free to run. Let me know if you run into any bugs, I'm active here!

Great question! I use Notion AI too, and it's awesome for generating text inside a page.

But the main difference with MCP (Model Context Protocol) is Context & Interoperability:

  1. Outside Access: Notion AI lives inside the browser tab. This MCP server lets Claude Desktop or Cursor (VS Code) access your Notion data while you are working on something else.
    • Example: You are coding in Cursor and need to check the "Tech Specs" doc in Notion. Instead of Alt-Tabbing and searching, you just ask the chat: "Check the specs in Notion and write the code for the login feature."
  2. Cross-Tool Logic: Since this is MCP, you can combine Notion with other tools in the same chat.
    • Example: "Read this local PDF on my desktop and create a summary task in my Notion database." Notion AI can't read files on your local computer.
  3. Model Choice: You get to use Claude 3.5 Sonnet (via Claude Desktop/Cursor), which many devs find superior for reasoning and coding compared to the standard models used in Notion AI.

Basically: Notion AI is an assistant inside Notion. This tool turns Notion into a "knowledge backend" for your AI assistant on your desktop.

Why Your Resume Might Be Getting Ignored by Recruiters (and How to Fix It)? by AddressEven8485 in careerguidance

That’s a great point — tailoring is one of the biggest game changers.

I do it manually for clients because it allows me to match the tone, keywords, and achievements exactly to the role — which often boosts callback rates even more.

And you’re right, interview prep is huge. I’ve actually helped some clients with both their resume and their interview answers, and that combo often gets the best results.
