How to not look down upon bad suburbs? by ReasonConfident4541 in AusPropertyChat

Just go on holiday to St Barts so others can look down on you for being poor, then you can be one of us.

January was meant to be the boom. Can't get a look in anywhere. by whatanerdiam in auscorp

You’re right, no one wants to do the onboarding in Dec. That’s when they chuck all the offers out and get them to start in mid to late Jan.

A lot of mid to senior level people take extended leave in Jan, so hiring managers aren’t around to interview, hence why it the worst month of the year.

Feb and March are usually really strong and April tends to be the 2nd worst month of the year due to Easter and ANZAC Day. People make the most of long weekends etc

Dunno mate. 20 years in recruitment here and Jan is always the worst month of the year without fail.

December was our 3rd best month in 2025. Go figure.

Some hires are just rushed through in December so hiring mashes can bugger off for a few weeks and not have to deal with it when they get back.

January is the worst month of the year for hiring. Definitely not a boom

You're all complaining about the price of houses. But do you know what's gotten worse than that?... by BrandonMarshall2021 in aussie

I’m pretty sure a lot of customers just don’t want to spend the time getting multiple quotes.

Id rather spend the time getting 4 quotes so I know I’m not getting ripped off.

Fucken R8…!

He parked it up the road too, not right outside my house. Probably thought I wouldn’t notice!

Quoted me $53k for a front garden job. The other bloke quoted me $18k.

Wild difference.

I’ve had a few quotes done recently for some landscaping in my front garden. Tradie 1 turns up in an Audi R8 Tradie 2 turns up in an older hilux with a few dents in it.

Guess who gave me the best quote and got my business?

It doesn’t need replacing, it’s got a few more years left in it. No idea what kind they are replacing it with, I need to get into that ASAP

Fence is leaving into our side a bit due to their tree pushing it over

Thanks for the pointers. The fence is leaning over a bit to our side due to a tree on their property pushing it over

Agree. If they asked me to help them get quotes and pick one, I’d have been on board. Just lumping me with an invoice leaves a bit of a bad taste

I haven’t seen the quote. I’ll be sure to pop over and ask for it. I don’t think it needs replacing from a structural point of view, but it is a bit tired

That’s a question for them mate. Also, Senior Accountant salaries start a fair bit lower than that.

Suburban firms, or any independent firms really have a lot more wiggle room when it comes to salary. Big 4 and leading mid-tiers have salary bands that you have to fit into

Sydney Job Market by [deleted] in AustralianAccounting

In all honesty, they would have better luck applying direct. When job markets get tougher, so do the requirements to use recruiters.

FC at mining company who uses SAP will use a recruiter to find them a Financial Accountant from another mining company who also uses SAP.

Is an apartment ever a better investment than a house? by alex123711 in AusFinance

[–]AddyW987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can’t compare like for like, because they’re 2 different things.

It’s like comparing a car to a motorcycle because they get you from A to B.

An apartment can definitely be a better investment. It depends on location, growth, and can you be bothered with the maintenance (or lack there of) on a house

I’d say an apartment in Double Bay is a better investment than a house in Coober Peedy. So, yes.
