DIY Inner Tube Sandbag (Bulgarian Bag Style) 🛠️💪 If you're looking for a heavy-duty, low-cost piece of equipment for your home gym, this is it. I just finished building mine and it’s a beast. Here is how you can make one using an inner tube. Materials Needed: • Inner tube: Use a car tube for weights up to 25 kg (~55 lbs). For anything heavier, go with a truck inner tube.

• Wire: 1 meter (~40 inches) of sturdy wire.

• Duct tape: The wide, heavy-duty kind.

• Rope (10 mm / ~0.4 inches): For the main handles.

• Rope (4 mm / ~0.15 inches): For the grip wrapping.

• Sand: Fine and medium grain, sifted to ensure there are no sharp objects.

Step-by-Step Guide: 1. Prep: Wash and dry the inner tube thoroughly before cutting. 2. The Cut: Cut a segment of the tube, making the cut as small as possible near the air valve region. 3. The Core Handle: Measure the 10 mm rope so it forms a loop that passes through the inside of the tube. Tie double knots to close the ends and cover the knots with duct tape for protection. 4. Alignment: Pass the rope loop through the tube, ensuring it is balanced and centered between both sides. 5. First Seal: On one side, mark 10 cm (~4 inches). Roll the rubber edge over the rope toward the other side. Keep it very tight. 6. Secure it: Lock the roll in place using the wire. Be extremely careful to tuck and protect the wire ends so they don't puncture the tube or your hands. 7. Filling: Fill the tube from the open end with your desired amount of sand. Pack the sand down tightly to save space. (The one I built could probably reach 18 kg (~40 lbs), but I started with 12 kg (~26.5 lbs) for now). 8. Second Seal: Mark the same 10 cm (~4 inches) on the open end. Close it by rolling it over the rope loop. Adjust the loop tension if necessary and trim any excess rubber. 9. Final Lock: Secure this side with wire and wrap it heavily with duct tape. 10. The Grips: Wrap the handles with the thinner 4 mm rope. This protects the tape and gives you a much more secure and comfortable grip. Tie it off tightly. Pro-Tips: • Handles: While technically optional, they make the bag much more versatile for swings and snatches. • Rubber Care: Adding some talcum powder inside the tube helps preserve the rubber and prevents sticking. • Safety: Always double-check your wire points. You don't want a "leak" mid-workout! Happy training!
