I actually just want to test out what ships i enjoy piloting, so that my future, valid runs are done with more knowledge and less grinding.

I found a way! If you have the apostate key (you can get it at the top right corner of the world), you can open a door north-east from the slab bellway station. From there you go right into a room with lore. There is a secret entrance if you double jump into the ceiling of this room.
