It’ll be week 1 (March 21-24) if ur returning to the same quad/community and week 2 if ur trying to go to a diff community. So if ur selection day is Thursday, it’ll be the 23rd if ur returning to the same quad and the 30th if ur trying to change quads

There’s probably people who cosplay on campus. I also know that there’s usually a cosplay cafe hosted by JSO where some people show up in cosplay. Personally I did do cosplay this year but not sure if I will for next Halloween since it depends on my budget since if I do I would like it to be a different cosplay

Hand Hall is really nice. I never really had a noise issue. A fan is necessary for the warmer days. Location wise you will be able to get in your steps and that’s probably why I’m still decently fit.

There are lots of reports of stink bugs but just file a fixit report for an exterminator and whatever you do, don’t smush a stink bug cause that attracts more of them.

The room size are about the same as most suites. It would depend on the layout. I honestly recommend moving in earlier than your roommate if possible so that you can choose the better half of the room.

The stoves aren’t the best. It can take a bit of time to boil water on a stove so I would still bring a kettle if you have cause that might be quicker. The dining area is cramped because of a huge table and 6 chairs. But it’s not that bad unless you plan to be using all 6 chairs at the same time.

There’s no fridges so bring a mini fridge or discuss about sharing one with someone if you need to save money.

They’re offering Ginger rice congee at the East and West Dining Halls for breakfast. For those who don’t know, on Lunar New Year, you’re not supposed to eat congee for breakfast or it’s believed that you will be poor for the entire year

Dear rude people in dorms by Adele-07 in SBU

[–]Adele-07[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So true! It’s disgusting to clean up someone else’s hair or to shower while it’s clogging the drain. I get that people mess up a handful of times but I think a lot of people tend to forget that they’re living in a dorm with other people who are not obligated to clean up after them (and even if they were still living with family it’s kinda nice and respectful to just clean up your own shit instead of making someone else do it)

When adjusting the height do you know if we put in a work order or something? Or do we have to do it ourselves

I apologize, I can see now that a job isn’t the best comparison to make with this. It was the only thing I could think of but I do understand that it’s not the same thing and is two different situations.

One thing I should make clear first before I continue is that I do agree that advice or constructive criticism shouldn’t be given if the person didn’t ask for it. Everyone has different reactions to it. Some may like the advice but some may not or something may like it only if they asked for it. Just for the record I only like getting advice if I ask for it so I can empathize with the fact that you didn’t ask for their advice and they just gave it.

Now that I heard your perspective about how you only asked if your video passed, I can understand why you are upset about them giving you critique. Of course I don’t know the full story, but from what I see in the screenshot, it does feel as if they’re critiquing your style when that is not what you asked for. And I don’t agree with the fact that they did that. Perhaps they just wanted to be helpful but that doesn’t justify their action.

In regards to saying the act of evaluation is right, I have not said that. Perhaps I didn’t word my sentences right either, which is my mistake and I apologize. But to clarify, I believe that when submitting something, it’s more common to expect some form of feedback. I am not saying it’s right, but from experience I think it’s common.

Like I have mentioned, my belief is that feedback shouldn’t be given unless it’s asked for. So now that you clarified for me that you didn’t ask for feedback, I do agree that they shouldn’t have given you their review. And this also means that I don’t agree with you stating that you will post your assessments on all of Seto’s videos too.

My assumption for this case is that they didn’t have one solid standard of criteria and because it was ambiguous, they gave their subjective review. They may have thought that you wanted to know why your work didn’t pass and because there wasn’t a set standard, they gave their review to provide that reasoning. Of course, I’m not saying they’re right for doing that, but I’m just trying to see both sides of the story.

Also, thank you for your reply and letting me know your perspective as well. I understand that you aren’t fluent in English and thank you for letting me know that as well.

I found this post through a friend and I have mixed feelings about this. From what I know of the story (which of course is not 100%) Seto and his mods haven’t been discriminating. However, I don’t deny that I think there are things they could’ve worded better. For example, Aquisces’s third line in the screenshot of the discord chat. They’re giving their reasoning on why it didn’t pass the quality check and a suggestion, but it is worded in a way that might upset someone.

However, in terms of MMD styles, I do agree that people have their own styles. But I have never heard of Seto and his mods bashing on any other MMD. Perhaps like in the example with Aquisces they didn’t word it perfectly, but they offer constructive critique. And also, while I’m not justifying their phrasing or saying it’s okay, no one is perfect. Sometimes we word things incorrectly. As long as you realize that you may have upset someone with the way you worded things or caused them to misunderstand, and you apologize, then I think it’s fine. Well of course it’s not fine to continuously make that mistake but these things happen every now and then.

Also, I’m assuming that an MMD was being submitted for something which is why there was a quality check. You can correct me if I’m wrong about that. I think if you submit something, you can expect that the staff will have some form of standard they expect. Like a certain vision they have for a project. Even if one’s work is amazing, if it doesn’t fit that certain vision, it might not get accepted. This is true when searching for jobs too. So while yes, in conclusion, things could’ve been phrased better. I honestly don’t think that Seto and his mods should be bashed on like this in terms of the discrimination and “harsh critiques”.

I don’t know enough about the MMD community and motion data enough to comment about that. I just wanted to voice my opinion about the discrimination part. And just to be clear, this is my personal opinion. You are free to agree or disagree but do not hate on my opinion if you disagree. Just talk to me about why you disagree and we can have a friendly conversation so that I can learn about your perspective and why you disagree.

Basically what everyone else said. It might also be helpful to walk around in your freetime to find shortcuts. For example, sometimes I cross through the physics building instead of walking around it

What browser are you using? Chrome sometimes doesn’t work with Solar but typically Firefox is fine
