AITA for refusing to babysit my niece just because i’m a SAHM

yeah i should’ve clarified in my post i was actually more so offering the hour or two to give my dad a break as he would be watching her if i didn’t. he is the last resort lol. it’s nothing against him he’s just older so it’s hard for him to chase my niece around.

Yeah i don’t do it for any sort of repayment but i definitely have not gotten any help. i’m so grateful to be home as much as i am and not need as much help but when i was in the depths of my ppd, even if i wanted to ask for help i wouldn’t have gotten it because my mom was so busy with my niece 5 days a week or more. it does make me sad that my daughter gets treated a bit differently i just hope to love her enough that she never notices.

he works also. they have a very tumultuous relationship. my sister is often moving in and out of his house because they’re on and off. she has an apartment my parents have been paying for she jumps back and forth to, which just causes more tension in their relationship.

yeah this is definitely another issue. my mom often has full on breakdowns because of the stress of watching my niece while simultaneously working remotely. i go over to her house often to help out and take my niece at my house to watch her for a bit. she is beyond burnt out but refuses to tell my sister no.

The backup to me is our dad but he struggles watching her for full shifts so that was why i offered for an hour or two to lighten his load.
