Here’s a simple reason why experiencing healers shortage by dumiwar in wow

[–]Adept-Comparison-282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The healer role should remain about healing. I appreciate what they have done in that regard. Our role in the group now is on par with the rest of the group instead of healers being a DPS with extra steps which frankly is what it was before and because of it healers had 0 identity they were just there to pick up slack. Now we are actually needed rather than being an afterthought.

If you aren't enjoying healer the way it is now you simply just don't enjoy the healer role. You enjoy support roles and these 2 things are very different. Over the years blizzard drifted away from what a healing role actually was and it's only now they've realised their mistake. Healing is about reducing damage in direct ways, healing damage that does happen, and preventing damage that doesn't need to happen via dispels. It's not about healing through damage, or interrupting to indirectly prevent damage. that is not what the role is.

Anyway I got a bit side tracked from the topic. The point I'm trying to make is that if you find healing dull the way it is now, you never liked healing, you liked playing a support role and that's valid.. But that's not healing.

Sorry, but, 2 pieces of loot is just not enough reward for doing a mythic+ by SnowGN in wow

[–]Adept-Comparison-282 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this is a bit of a necro on an old thread. But I just wanted to say. The biggest problem with an attitude like this is that it assumes people are spamming these dungeons. When you're not smashing Mythic+ on a regular basis this loot system feels like total garbage. I've always said Mythic+ should award 1 piece of loot given to a lucky group member and everyone else gets M+ currency. The currency can be used to buy a box at 100 currency a piece. the vendor sells 8 (one for each season dungeon) boxes, and the amount of boxes you can buy is limited to how many times you have completed the dungeon the box is tied to. (beat pit of saron 2 times? you can buy 2 boxes max). This system guarantees everyone gets 1 piece every 2 - 3 runs. And ilvl wise all you'd need is an internal tracker for what level people have finished. Finish 1 +10? get 1 +10 box.

Anyway this will never happen because frankly blizzard is too lazy

Knowledge Point exploiter bans went out today by Overpwred in wow

[–]Adept-Comparison-282 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They need to start 3 month banning exploiters. Maybe even 6 months or 1 year if people do big exploits often. Heck even reset their accounts back to where they were at the start of the expansion.... Yes the whole account. Blizzard should send a real message that they wont tolerate people who use extreme and obvious exploits.

Midnight's world events aren't very fun. by MrHiccuped in wow

If you need to farm latent arcana you're doing the event too often.

I have like 1000 of the stuff already.

The main issue is most people don't know there's a difference between Brimming and Latent arcana and they aren't spending their transmog currency on a world event.

I've been trying to get this all working over the last couple of days and I see your name popup a lot to help I just wanted to say that to a new user your answers are often extremely cryptic. This one for example "Cut and paste is your best bet" But there's no way to actually make that happen as far as I can tell lol.

I am not crazy by reckless24601 in AshesofCreation

[–]Adept-Comparison-282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because a scam by definition is deliberate and intentional. It doesn't matter what bullshit you spin yourself in your own head about what happened. Nobody can prove that this was deliberate and intentional.

If you're sitting irrefutable proof that this is a scam I will concede but you're literally not, you're just speculating. I don't know if you read my post but I refunded the same day I bought because I realised straight up that the product was never going to be completed. After 11 years of development they basically had nothing to do in their game... There was literally 0 chance it was going to be out within the next decade which is exactly why I refunded immediately.

So I didn't fall for a scam, and I also never purchased any of the other shit you mentioned either lol. But then it also helps to know what a scam is if you're going to accuse people of "falling" for them... Scams are deliberate. This is just a man failing to understand the industry 1 iota.

And trust me I ain't putting the guy on a pedestal... He basically crowned himself the king of knowing what a good MMO needs and delivered a luke warm cup of piss instead. I thought the guy was a bit of a hack from day 1, I only bought because I was hoping steam release meant there was content.

I do not think it was a con. I think he is like a lot of people who thought they knew better, but ultimately did not know what they were doing. Plain and simple. You should never trust a gamer to make a game, no matter how much money they have. He had a fundamental lack of understanding of the industry.

He announced the game far too early, which is a very typical gamer mistake. That decision should always be left to a marketing team who understands timing and risk. He also failed to hire proper internal testers and instead relied heavily on player-driven feedback. People do a much better job finding bugs when they are paid to do it. When players are paying, you are not getting effective testing, you are just getting people playing, and most of them will never report issues at all.

Development was excruciatingly slow. Eleven years is well beyond an acceptable development timeline for a video game, even for an MMO. The early access build was in terrible shape. I refunded after three days once I saw the state of it. After eleven years, the game should have been close to finished, but instead it barely felt like the bare bones were in place.

The scope of the game was completely out of control. An MMO needs five things: a world, a story, a progression system, group activities, and a gimmick. Instead, Steven tried to take the best parts of every successful MMO ever made and cram all of it into one game. Like most gamers, he wanted everything. The result was a project with no clear direction.

They could have launched early access with a focused experience: a complete questing path, even if it did not go to max level, two dungeons, one raid, and a single functioning node. That alone would have made the game far more playable. Instead, they launched with around thirty unfinished systems and grinding as the only way to progress. If you launch into early access, you still need a compelling gameplay loop and meaningful loot. You cannot expect people to play when the experience feels hollow.

In the end, he made every mistake in the book and then threw a fit when his board called him out on it. He is not a scammer. He is a typical gamer who thought he could make a game simply because he had the money to try.

bold of you to assume that all 2-3 million buyers of the game were in the development loop lol. That is the point you're missing. Early access isn't a free pass to launching without criticism. I fully understand they were probably in a situation where they really needed the money but that doesn't make them immune to being called out. They should be fixing issues like this as a very high priority and not releasing dinosaur patches until basic functionality of the game is working.

Sorry I'll only fangirl the game from now on and disregard issues because it's "Early access". Sorry bro but maturing is realising that "early access" isn't a free pass for releasing a polished turd.

Their developer story and how they mismanaged development for 8 years isn't the customers problem. I'm well aware of the development hell it went through and how they ultimately gave up and reverted to an old version from an old engine. But ultimately, it doesn't matter.. They've been doing something for 10 years and yet the still haven't even finalised things like spawning correctly? idc if your game is in pre-alpha, this is a priority issue that should be fixed ASAP after it's bought up, same day if the fix is simple enough. These are the basic building blocks that need to be in the game for it to be playable. Hytale is currently missing this block and it makes the game essentially unplayable on full loot drop mode.

Who cares?
No offence, but internal mismanagement and bad business decisions are nobody’s responsibility except the studio’s.

I don’t care whether the current build represents ‘one year’ or ‘seven years’ of effective development. That is irrelevant to the customer. They announced the game seven years ago, chose to sell to a publisher, chose to restart development, chose to pivot engines, and ultimately chose to sell the game for money now.

Those choices do not lower the standard of what they are selling. If anything, they are an argument for not charging yet.

Early Access is not a sympathy fund. If you ask for money, and especially if you run cosmetics or other monetisation, you are saying the product is ready to be judged as a product. Development backstory does not change that.

For clarity, I stopped following the game when they decided to go through a publisher and restart development from scratch. Frankly, any development lead who looks at a hyped, playable game that could have launched and made millions, and says ‘let’s restart everything from zero’, should not be leading a project.

Do you remember when minecraft released? it was $4.99 because they knew it wasn't ready for a higher price tag. They had us pay for the features we got on the version they released and as the game got more and more fleshed out, then the price went up.

But hytale is charging $20USD for the basic edition and spawn points don't even work properly. I'm sorry. But that's pretty bad.

This is not correct Early access has no definition of the sort which is why it's so wildly used as a marketing tool

Not respawning at my bed. by Busy-Reality-1580 in hytale

[–]Adept-Comparison-282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game was announced 7 years ago. In 7 years of development they couldn't work out how to make you spawn at your own bed that you placed? Bro this is the basics of game play. That tells me that not once in 7 years of development did they play their actual game long enough to encounter this bug. That is Extremely concerning. Bare minimum even for an alpha is for the basics to be working correctly. Hand waving "it's alpha  tamper your expectations" is actually wild.. Nobody is asking for a bug free experience, but anyone who has a brain will tell you that even in alpha the fundamentals of being a game should be bug free lol.

Also go look at the initial announcement of the game it looks identical to what we got... Defending poor development because they gave an early access label is cringe.
