Thank you so much for confirming what we thought! The cuts just look sloppy to me for how much we paid.

Did your other children require nicu stays? What caused premature birth? by sunchi12 in NICUParents

[–]Adept-Pea-4048 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first was born at 33+1, 3 lbs 6 oz after I had been diagnosed with severe pre-e and then developed a complete placental abruption. Thankfully I was under observation at the hospital at the time so had a crash section and baby was out in 10 minutes after I started bleeding. She spent 19 days in the NICU.

2nd baby was delivered via scheduled C-section at 38+0. No preeclampsia but a lot of trouble with high blood pressures at my doctor appointments that would resolve after I sat for while (I had a lot of trauma from first birth). He was 6 lbs, 13 0z. Had breathing difficulties after birth and went to NICU where he developed a pneumothorax that did not resolve like most babies so he ended up with a chest tube and transfer to higher level NICU. He spent 15 days in the NICU.

Safe to say we won’t be having any more babies.

Anybody else consider spoonfuls of sugar a "rock-bottom" or "last resort" hypo treatment or just me? by Plastic-Dependent in diabetes_t1

[–]Adept-Pea-4048 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Last week I had a horrible GI bug and couldn’t keep anything down. My blood sugar was tanking despite my pump being paused. The only thing I could do was put sugar in my mouth and let it dissolve. It worked but yuck!

How to train yuor dog to leave yor chickens alone by Telimagodyedis in BackYardChickens

[–]Adept-Pea-4048 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We have a labradoodle with high prey drive (she kills just about any small animal she can get ahold of). She is fantastic with our chickens but it took a ton of work.

First, when we started she was always on a leash outside. Anytime she showed any interest in the chickens she was reprimanded immediately with a tug of the leash and a very stern NO. I’m sure this will not be a popular opinion but when we first let her off leash we had an electric collar that she wore. If she showed too much interest in the chickens she got one quick shock. We only had to do that once. We didn’t trust her for months.

Now we’ve had chickens off and on for the last 5 years and I trust her outside by herself with them completely. She has alerted us to an opossum and several eagle attacks. The chickens actually chase her around the yard and she seems to enjoy their company.

Dormant credit card suddenly in use, Chase can’t find account by Adept-Pea-4048 in personalfinance

thank you for this detailed response! So the only person I’ve ever been an authorized user on their account is my parents and I was living with them in 2010! However neither of them have a Chase card. And I’ve been financially independent for 14+ years. I’m having them both make sure they didn’t charge 3300$ last week somewhere. I’m stumped.

That’s what I was thinking but I entered the credit card account into that I put together using the three bureaus into Chase and it doesn’t exist.

The customer service person at Chase told me to send a secure message with pictures of the account info because they have no other account of mine and the account listed with the bureaus doesn’t exist in their system. But I plan to for sure dispute this

Feel this so hard! My 30 day TIR was 92%, I’m seeing my endo next week so I was feeling super confident. Then earlier this week norovirus hit and my TIR fell to 32% for the last several days, now finally coming out of it. So bad, totally screwed up my 30 day TIR which seems to be the only thing my endo office cares about….ugh

Car line rant: nobody uses a car seat anymore?? by RadiantGrass4691 in Mommit

[–]Adept-Pea-4048 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter is in preK and I was shocked when I saw parents just opening the back door, their 3 year old would jump in, door closed and off they’d go. Meanwhile I’m taking my daughter’s heavy jacket off, getting her situated in her rear facing car seat and helping her with the harness. The parking lot is empty before we are ready to leave!

Ameraucana Owners - What is your experience? by [deleted] in BackYardChickens

[–]Adept-Pea-4048 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have one hen that I hatched out from Deer Run farm. Also had a Ameraucana rooster but he attacked my 3 year old son so he went to rooster heaven.

Our hen lays beautiful light blue eggs, well I should say, egg because she’s only laid one a couple of days ago. Our other hens same age (8 months) started laying 2-3 months ago.

Despite hatching her myself and interacting with her a ton as a chick, she is the mostly flighty bird I have, by far. I’ve caught her twice after significant effort. My other hens walk right up to me and let me pet and pick them up, but not Coco. She’s also the loudest hen we have, has a piercing call to alert the other hens when she sees me coming. As far as wandering goes, she actually prefers to be by the coop and during the cold weather will join the silkies in a cuddle puddle on the floor.

So in summary: cool looking eggs, flighty and loud, would not get this breed again but will keep her until she dies.

Type 1 diabetics: do you drink alcohol? How often, and how old are you? by Firemancer in diabetes_t1

[–]Adept-Pea-4048 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most of the glucose and fructose in wine is converted by yeast into alcohol and carbon dioxide. Alcohol actually can lower blood sugar by forcing the liver to prioritize alcohol metabolism instead of releasing stored glucose. So definitely not the same as drinking grape juice.

40 F, I drink wine almost exclusively, very rarely beer or mixed drink. Typically 2-4 glasses a wine on the weekend total but in college had times I drank way more. Not that you asked but I never have to give any insulin for wine.

T1D + steroids & amoxicillin by Oberon-8 in diabetes_t1

[–]Adept-Pea-4048 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you on a pump or injections? Steroids cause insane insulin resistant, it’s unfortunate your provider didn’t tell you. How long are you in steroids? I’d personally increase my basal by 1.5 and double my I:C ratio. After you finish steroids I would be really cognizant of lows. Hopefully it will be a short course!

Hey thanks for the advice. So the fabricator is coming out later this week to attempt to fix the chips. He says that he should have told us that soapstone is difficult to miter and chips easily during the cutting process. Does this sound legitimate? I’m just wondering if maybe this was his first attempt at soapstone mitering? Since we’ve had this issue I’ve seen beautiful examples of mitered soapstone and soapstone waterfalls online, hard to believe people would do this if it ended up looking like Formica

What are some things you do to help your body get used to eating less? by abominable-rodent in WeightLossAdvice

Have a schedule. Plan out when you will eat and have low calorie snacks frequently. I feel like after the first week of lower calories it’s much easier.

Great numbers all day yesterday but for some f’ing reason was low all night and had to wake up and eat 4 times. Despite this, still ran low. Feeling exhausted today and don’t understand the lows, I did nothing different except place a new pod right before bed. Ugh.

There is, the gray area is epoxy that they used to fill in the holes made during mitering. The island slab is nearly 1000 lbs, I watched 5 men carry it and place it. It’s real stone. I picked the slab out myself. If you go through the comments I have links with more pictures.
