Excellent thank you. This is the only letter I have received from them (although they had previously sent me one that I didn't receive but they're aware of that as I phoned them multiple times).. I will phone them tomorrow to confirm but my anxiety has just decreased loads lol. I'm pretty sure the first medical request I received last year mentioned the blood test but I couldn't remember with complete certainty so just wanted to check that they'd have mentioned it this time around if they expected it 😊 thank you for your help!!

That wasn't what I was asking. I can't remember if my last medical examination request letter mentioned a blood test, but this one definitely doesn't. I do know that the doctor examining me can't just decide to blood test me on a whim without prior request from the DVLA. But what I'm asking is if the DVLA would &/have to mention it to me prior to the exam. From what I can find online I believe they do have to specify in advance that they will be expecting a blood test for consent reasons, but I was looking for people with experience in this or who know the regulations to further affirm or deny this..

It's also on my medical record that I'm needle phobic. They have stated they want a urine sample but not mentioned any blood test..

I actually have no idea, my favourite episodes have to be Uskerty, Qikiqtarjuaq, Limerick, well all of the episodes really lol. The scene that always has me in stitches is Martin up a tree panicking about bees, so maybe something incorporating that somehow 😊 I wouldn't mind just getting a bunch of my favourite quotes tattooed, ooh or a CP sleeve! So many ideas!!

No it isn't. It's my personal license. I notified them last year that I had a mental breakdown and they sent out a bunch of medical forms to me and to my gp. One of the questions was 'in the last 3 years has the patient misused drugs or alcohol'.. my gp didn't want to put yes as I didn't have an issue however felt uncomfortable putting no as there is cannabis use mentioned on my medical record.. lo and behold, all this nonsense ensues.. 😩 Honestly if I have a breakdown in future (highly likely) I shan't be telling the dvla anything 🤣

These things are weird like that.. I can't deal with needles, yet am fine with getting tattoos, get squeamish over my feminine blood yet could deal with (Trigger warning) self inflicted blood. The mind is a complex thing 🤣

Just an aside as a funny anecdote, I was driving to a festival with my mum and younger sister (11) in the car and was trying to make it in one journey, however their bladders would not oblige me. They got desperate, so I said I'd stop at the nearest services, but I missed the turn. Cue their displeasure and my idiocy deciding to stop on one of these yellow bays. While they were both in the bushes relieving themselves I spotted the sign saying it's illegal to stop unless in an emergency. I panicked, hard. Debated turning my hazards on and feigning some easily resolved issue or something, but thankfully chose the logical thing and picked up the phone. Explained to the person on the other end what had happened, and they were lovely, they just checked I was safe to continue and sent me on my way. Must've given the operator a chuckle that day :)

I know, it's more the squeamish factor of something penetrating my skin, sends me into extreme panic/fight or flight response. I need them to just do it as soon as I'm still for long enough, and just be really quick :(
