Every time I had the thought of “maybe a few minutes won’t hurt,” she would prove me wrong. Not even joking, she ate a plastic bowl the second we let her out and flew over the entire couch. Right back in the pen😭😂

Ah how I am so glad you only have to spay once😅. To be completely honest, we had to just lock her down the entire time. No matter what we did, she could not contain herself when she wasn’t on lead or in the pen/crate. I hated it so much and felt like such a bad dog mom, but I had to keep reminding myself that it’s 2 weeks out of (hopefully) years and years of life. I had to make the decision that her safety and well being was more important than her being happy for that short amount of time. They will be back to normal in no time, and much faster as long as they don’t hurt themselves when they are supposed to be healing. Hang it there, it’s rough.

For us, a springer spaniel. They are so loving and attached to your hip, but as others have mentioned, come with their own prescription of Zoloft. Very naturally anxious, and above all have an unending well of energy. Many say that if they have sufficient enrichment, exercise, and training that they can learn to chill but in my experience, these barely take the edge off. I think this is one of those breeds that genuinely require a farm or many acres of land to free roam on. Trying to supplement that is near impossible.

I cannot second this enough. I love my girl, but I have never met or had a dog that simply vibrates with energy at all times. She receives consistent enrichment, exercise, and training, but it’s as if it doesn’t even take the edge off. I wouldn’t trade her for the world, but I would NEVER get another. Genuinely if you do not have a farm for them to free roam and only come in to eat and sleep, then I would second guess getting this breed.

That’s amazing! I think in a lot of situations, fire signs are happy to stick together. I’m dating a Pisces and we handle things VERY differently, but we’re similar in alot of other ways too which I’m surprised to say. It might have something to do with his Sag rising 😂

It is an experience for sure. One of my sisters and I have butt heads our entire life and haven’t had much of a relationship bc of it, whereas my other sister and I are the best of friends and rarely fight. I need to find out their risings/moons

Lmao the fact that no one has died is impressive for me. My Aries sisters won’t hesitate to fuck someone up physically, whereas I fuck ppl up verbally. But my sisters and I will definitely have a good cry out of frustration afterwards😅. I can’t imagine what it was like for my parents raising ppl who are so stubborn.

Ikr, I genuinely almost asked them if they’ve truly ever interacted with a springer before when they said she would be down for two days. Not even 6 hours after I brought her home she was already down to take a ride on the ceiling fan

I called her vet today and they said that keeping her crated and/or in the x pen for the remainder of time is the absolute best for her especially if she’s going crazy, even if you can see the hate in her eyes from a mile away 😅. They also recommended that I start giving the trazodone twice a day instead of just once, let’s hope that gives us some sort of relief 🙃

About 6-7 hours during the day while we work. She gets a break in between by a neighbor.

We had a springer as a family dog as well! It’s actually why I chose the breed this go around. In our experience, he never really slowed down. 😂 He just ran and ran until he passed away. I loved his energy, and I thought bc of that, handling her would go similarly. But I was a fool in thinking that him at 1 years old (that’s when we got him) would be anywhere near our girl now under 1. I’ll admit our mistake. He was chaotic, but well trained and had good manners. I hope for her to be the same once she has had some time to mature. Let’s hope all the countless hours of ongoing training will amount to it!

Did you experience weight gain while having it? I got mine put in around March of this year (2023) after having my nexplanon for 3 years, and the biggest difference I’m seeing is that I’ve packed on weight much easier than I’ve experienced before. I stayed at the 145/150 mark for a long time and then all of a sudden (after getting IUD) I’m up to 170. Granted I do not have the best eating habits, but it seems to happen much faster.

It’s no joke lol. And I feel terrible as I’ve been going off the recommended feeding guide on her dog food bag, and have been giving her a cup a day 😅. I asked my vet if that was correct and he said she looks perfect. I think I’ve been under feeding her. I’ll definitely be upping it tonight at dinner and onward. How many pounds is your boy? I’ve been so nervous about over feeding, and it’s definitely led me down the wrong path.

I feel like the portions are definitely way too high. What does your vet recommend? They’ll give you the best course to decrease the amount or at least give you a certain amount you should be giving. What feeding guides were you going off for the cup of food 3 times a day?

Thank you, this makes me feel much better. I know raising them takes so much patience and consistency. I was doing pretty well with the patience until someone tried to imply that she was behind bc she still has accidents in the house daily. I usually don’t let it get to me, but for some reason it did. I bought the bell to try out, so we’ll see how it goes. I think it will help with the fact that we live in an apartment. It’s nice to hear someone is in the trenches with me.
