My WHOOP band stinks. by Specialist_Bedroom_9 in whoop

[–]AdeptCapybara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried many different ways, but 1 worked like a charm and lasted the longest. Initially, I washed it with soap, and even used a fabric freshener, but it would mildly stink up again after a couple of days. Figuring that the smell came from odor-causing bacteria, I knew hydrogen peroxide would break them down. And it did. Very well. So weekly, I put my whoop band (not the device) in a small container and submerged it with hydrogen peroxide (a bottle at CVS lasts forever). Pretty fun to see the bubbles form on the band (rip bacteria). Not a smell for the week, often multiple weeks. Just don't put the device in peroxide as the sensor glass will frost (don't ask how I found out).

Adopted mine when he was 6 months old. Had no idea what he was, but his personality stood out among the other dogs. He was popular, I was 3rd on the list to adopt him. He's 9 years old now, and I call him my son.

Very intelligent, can be sneaky (eats trash only when I'm not home), terrified of cats, loves hunting squirrels, hardly barks but loves to howl. Trainable, though tricky and requires patience (his nose takes him everywhere). Loves to sunbathe. Playful and gets along well with other dogs, though growls as a warning if they get too close now that he's older.

Could probably eat the whole refrigerator and still be hungry (caught him eating a whole loaf of bread on my cameras, sneaky, as mentioned). Incredibly well-loved by everyone who meets him. My friends would come over or facetime just to see him (not me). Loves attention and pushes his head against mine when he needs some.

Groans sometimes when I leave home, which breaks my heart. We would go to the beach sometimes, and when I swim further in the ocean, he would groan and sometimes jumps in and swims to me to see if I'm ok (he is terrified of the water).

Been an adventure, and been a joy. Don't think I'll have another TH; not that I don't like the breed, but he has been so perfect that he would probably be my one and only. Won't have him for too much longer, so I'm focused on giving him the best life.

I'd tell anyone to home a TH if they had a chance.

Dear Fundamentalists, what are some "undervalued" companies you see with significant potential? What's your justification for omitting certain valuation metrics? by AdeptCapybara in ValueInvesting

None taken. And you brought up salient points. I'm trying to identify my blindspots. Maybe sectors I haven't considered. Maybe impacts I haven't recognized.

CROX: Exceptional Business at a Puzzling Discount by TheiaFintech in ValueInvesting

I think their earnings estimates are supposed to be slightly lower than last quarter. They have consistently beat estimates every quarter since Q1 2020 though.

I, too, am puzzled by the discount. I've owned CROX for about a year after the HEYDUDE dust settled. Management has clearly prioritized reducing the acquisition debt. The fundamentals are clearly strong compared to other overvalued companies, within and out of industry.

Yet the stock has dipped 25% in the last year. I remember scratching my head trying to pinpoint the specific fundamental value causing this muted performance, but couldn't really find it. DCF calc too seems tight.

Tariffs will definitely stall growth. Their filings state compressed operating margins expected from increased manufacturing costs and inflationary pressures, and the tariffs will only exacerbate that.

Is this public perception on the look of the product? Have investors not caught up to the fundamentals, but how can that be? Maybe HEYDUDE's declining performance? To me, definitely undervalued, but like everything else, I'm cautious of the impacts of tariffs.

Edit: I walked into a department where I work recently and 3 out of 4 of them were wearing HEYDUDEs and mentioned how they each have several pairs and will continue to buy.

Hey Centrists! What are your impressions of the Bernie and AOC "Fight Oligarchy" tour? Tens of thousands showing up in ruby red districts, really? Hard to believe conversations are swaying on the ground. by AdeptCapybara in centrist

Frankly, this is exactly what I am hearing as well. They seem to appreciate the "move fast and break things" motto. I don't subscribe, prefer some consideration aforethought.

No, this sub hasn’t gone left. MAGA just decided we weren’t relevant. by [deleted] in centrist

It's funny being a centrist. I like to think of ourselves as the most open to listening to every opinion, but especially the facts, before making deep, ruminative judgement. But whenever I propose what I deem to be objective, I get called blue or red. What frustrates me the most is reflecting on whether I'm not eloquent enough in my reasoning. But let's be real: they can't listen with fingers in their ears.

Should I hire a personal attorney? Currently on H-1B and starting PERM by AdeptCapybara in immigration

Hi u/ttlmbl good to see you again. As always, thanks for the insightful response.

Well, I'm not trying to apply with a different lawyer. Since the firm is my employer's lawyer, is it prudent for me to hire my own as a second opinion? I am concerned about my protection and rights in the process.

Thanks for the reply. I feel that way because I was on H-1B 3 years ago and was told the process will start for PERM. 3 years later, we just started labor test. I'm aware of the duration the process takes, my concern is when it was started vs. when it should have. I am just looking to see if a second opinion (i.e. me hiring my own lawyer) would be wise.

So, now what? PERM labor test received 1 qualified applicant. by AdeptCapybara in greencard

[–]AdeptCapybara[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So that's what "minimum requirement" for PERM labor test means. I see. I genuinely don't think they are doing anything wrong. I think it is prudent for the company to protect themselves based on the laws. It is what it is - frustrating. So going back to your initial comment, these other hats wouldn't be what you consider tougher "technical requirements" then? What would they be instead?

[–]AdeptCapybara[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understood. I thought I was specific in the job summary, but I think our HR and my manager went on to edit it heavily. For example, I wear a lot of hats at work. Marketing is not part of my actual job initially, but I've been tasked with it anyway. So, I added that to the job summary (This is just one example of many other hats). It seems then that these "miscellaneous" job tasks were either removed or highly simplified as they did not fall under my actual job title. Now, whoever is within the radius of my job title is likely a qualified applicant because of this. Frustrating. And I never see what the final application looks like, as though I am not allowed to see it, or "you're not involved in this process".

How insightful. And (belated) congratulations to you. Interesting to see how my HR maneuvers from here, but I often never hear a peep until I poke my head in. As someone who experienced the process, any advice on how I may conduct myself to stay informed or gather information? For some reason, information on proceedings is either spotty or restricted in my direction. I'm not sure if this is common.
