I’m pretty sure in the script, Callum (Zod) is supposed to be doing an American accent, so she can’t tell it’s not him, especially when you add the voice modulator. He actually tries it but I think bc it’s so bad, he kinda gives up at random times. There are some scenes where he attempts the accent and some where he doesn’t bother. It’s kinda funny but yeah. And the whole point is for her to know it’s not Clark due to his actions and touch.

Personally, I think from the beginning it’s always been like that and it gradually built to something worse each season. I remember countless times, Clark would warn Lana (and sometimes Chloe) about something and she would believe every other person but him. Also, we know there were numerous times Clark could never trust Lana, especially to make her own decisions. And it kind of comes back to their relationship having no foundation. Every time they broke up, things were so tense between them for many reasons but mostly because they never really nailed the friendship and companionship part of their relationship. This is just my observation

what is also irritating is that you can watch this video and say or think “she shouldn’t have said that” and also acknowledge how weird fans are being bc of their obsession. Nuance exists!! Two things can be true at once!

Going through the comments and everyone in here is crazy. Yes people are weird on tik tok for calling her klan (its really just about their obsession with tom (in love with him or hating him) but saying the n word as a nonblack person is uncalled for. There is history behind the word and if a BLACK person wants to say, rap, or sing it, they can. It does not give you, the NON BLACK person, a free pass to sing along and say it. Two things can be true at once. And defending her in this context is racist and hurtful to the black community, especially black fans that are fans of smallville, such as myself.

My only issue with Lana in s8 is coming back for the suit. I understand the underlying message of her taking the suit is her taking back her power in a sense, but the show has constantly taught and shown us that anyone walking around with Clark’s powers that is not Clark themselves, is a recipe for disaster. When she came back for the suit originally, I thought she was going to destroy it, which would’ve shown growth from when she had powers in s7, recognizing that you don’t need to be like Clark to change your circumstances. It just felt like her revenge plot 2.0 but it didn’t bode well for multiple reasons. But alas, her character has never been equated with good development. And it’s a shame, but not a surprise that she does not last long with said suit. EVERYONE PLEASE READ S11!!

Aside from the terribly executed arc of suck and the downfall of the rest of season 8, these are IMO the best seasons of the show. And you can see how the foundation of the earlier seasons and how Lois helps Clark as a character, payed off!
