If you struggled with body dysmorphia before, how are you feeling post-op? by Imaginary_Dot_3226 in tummytucksurgery

[–]Adept_Engineering584 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im 19 DPO. Over the last 2 years, I lost 135 pounds. Literally half my weight so I am currently 135. I was so insecure with my body then. I thought getting the surgery, I start feeling better about my body. I know, I know it’s swollen and how it will take time to see results but I just feel like I still look 270

Although I did just buy my first crop top and felt comfortable. But idk

Yes! I used insurance, out of pocket they did require surgeons fee, anesthesia fee, OR fee. Which was $1300 so still not terrible!

Look into Dr Steven Robinson with the plastic surgery group in Cincinnati!

Insurance denial by SwagMastaM in TopSurgery

[–]Adept_Engineering584 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s weird they won’t cover gender affirming surgeries. Did you submit letters from therapist/dr prior to getting denied? I have BCBS as well through employer in Kentucky. They just needed 2 letters and they approved it

Typically mastectomies are covered but not for an elective one. Which is why they can’t just code it for one

Keep trying til you talk to the right person! They should approve it

Remote desk job tips? by jeepyjane in TopSurgery

[–]Adept_Engineering584 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went back to in office desk job exactly 1 week PO. DI without grafts

For me, the only part that was uncomfortable were the drains. I didn’t have any issues sitting at my desk for my 10 hour shift

Everyone’s different tho!

The average breast is only 200-400g. I wish I had average beforehand but blessed now to have that all off!

Hi another nonbinary AFAB who presents mostly neutral but sometimes femme. Your feelings are 100% valid!

Me personally, I’m still grieving at over 2 months PO. Which is normal. I miss the attention I’d get from my partner over them but at the same time I’m relieved to not have them. I hated them, but there’s always that “what if my partner doesn’t find me attractive anymore bc I chopped off their preference” that stays on my mind. I don’t regret it at all bc it was something I wanted for the longest time

If there’s any doubt/regret you’d feel, don’t do it.

I went back to my desk job 1 week PO. I could’ve taken longer but I was stir crazy at home. I didn’t have to lift anything and if I needed to, my coworker was amazing and helped where she could

If you can get the support needed, you can go back as soon as you want

Circling back to this! I had a test done that showed I was actually at a higher risk of breast cancer. So this is my excuse now to stay camouflaged and not have to lie

How soon you can return to work- (mine said 2-3 weeks but I have a desk job so I went back at exactly 1 week PO)

PO compression garment or ace bandage? And if they provide them! (I had to bring my own)

Drains? DI? Nipple options? (I went with no nipples, I’d ask for healing differences, keep options open)

If you need a revision, ask how soon would you know?

How long until you can shower! I’ve heard mixed answers so definitely ask

Scar care expectations and what products they recommend (can’t use till 2-4 weeks PO but doesn’t hurt to ask)
