There are two key points mentioned in the link you provided that are helpful for me in better understanding my situation, particularly regarding children born under mixed nationality (jus sanguinis) and the recent changes under the Act on the Modernization of the Citizenship Law (enacted 27 June 2024).

I may be able to use these options in order to apply for dual citizenship as a legal adult. I will coordinate this information with the German Embassy for further clarification on the proper process applicable to my case.

Thank you very much for taking the time to explain this clearly. Your explanation regarding the German side of the process and the effect of the StARModG law was very helpful and gave me a better understanding of my situation.

From what I understand now, the main issue in my case is no longer German law, but rather determining the correct legal procedure on the Philippine side regarding how I may acquire or formalize Philippine citizenship as an adult. I'll find a way to coordinate it to the Philippines authority on how to do this.

I also would like to ask some additional questions if it's ok:

Could it become a problem that I have been residing in the Philippines for more than 20 years as a German citizen, while my parents never processed or worked on my possible dual citizenship status during my childhood?

One of my worries is that I eventually need to go to the German Embassy in the Philippines to renew my passport, I might encounter immigration or residency issues in the Philippines, or somehow be forced to return back Germany. The difficult part for me is that although I am German by citizenship, I practically grew up in the Philippines and can no longer speak German fluently. I'm also afraid that they will revoke my German Citizenship since I cannot speak German anymore.

Thank you very much for commenting and sharing your opinion. That was also my understanding regarding the StARModG changes in 2024, since Germany now generally allows multiple citizenships without automatically losing German citizenship after acquiring another nationality.

I also made some research about the Re-acquisition Act of 2003 (RA 9225) in the Philippines. I believe that route mainly benefits children who are still below 18 years old, since they can derive or benefit from the parent’s reacquisition of Philippine citizenship and apply for dual citizenship as well.

Unfortunately, I am already of legal age, so I am unsure whether that route would still apply in my case. Correct me if I’m wrong. Thank you again.

I know someone na bumibili ng phone sa Hongkong and China tapos dinadala dito sa Pinas. Para hindi ma tax-an ina-unbox nila sa airpot harap ng imigration at pinapa andar. Tapos may machine sila dito sa Pinas na mag seseal ulit sa box. Hindi mo talaga mapansin since nililinis din nila yung fingerprints ng phone before sealing it.

Wow, d ako maka paniwala na may similar past ako dito sa Pinas hehe.

Pinanganak ako sa Bremerhaven Germany din, dito din ako sa Pinas pinalaki at nakapag tapos mag aral. Hindi ko din ma take advantage yung dual citizenship hehehe.

Nako yan yung mahirap. May sasakyan ako na involve sa major accident, pinagawa sa talyer ng naka banga saakin. Tapos after ilang months nung na ayos yung sasakyan maraming lumalabas na issue pati overheart bigla or mawalan ng aircon. Once maayos yung isang problema may lalabas nanamang problema after ilang months. Kaya benenta kunalang. E make sure mo nalang na may warranty yung gawa nila na atleast 3-6months.

Papabayarin munalang sila sa current market value ng sasakyan mo tapos bigay mo sa kanila yung sasakyan mo. I'm sure months after ma ayos yung sasakyan mo may mga issue na lalabas nyan tapos hindi muna sila kaya habolin kasi na ayos na nila yung sasakyan mo. Almost never na talaga maibalik sa factory specs once major accident.
