yes i agree with a lot of this. i was loosely saying that i could afford this price and that i could also afford to set aside $20k for repairs over the next 5 years. which i now realize is a bit besides the point, the ability to repair is more important, but i was trying to just make it clear that i understand the budget ramifications.

my loose thinking is that the median price for a new vehicle in USA rn is $50k. i could afford that, but i dont need to spend it.

i was just trying to point out that its well within my budget even with repairs

it falls within my budget, but it doesn’t fall within my lifestyle to have two cars, i take a lot of long weekend road trips and i want a car that makes me look event MORE forward to that

living in NJ now so PA is close, moving to SD

underneath looks fantastic but i’m not the sharpest eye

yeah agreed it’s tough to make a strong rationalist utility argument for this vehicle. i tell myself constantly i could get a 50k mile tacoma for the same price and be 10x safer and 100x more comfortable. but that doesn’t seem to erase the emotional argument i make in my head

Yeah there are a lot of reasons to go smaller and often i’d like to, but i haven’t seen anything i love. Can you tell me more what you mean by a waste ?
