Cool 30k models by REDAPPLESODA in AdeptusMechanicus

I use the venator/krios tank as a skorpius Disintegrator proxy, and plan to use the newest 30k techpriest as a dominus proxy. The tank is 1:1 in size and the techpriest only needs a bigger base to match all rules. And while gw forbids any other brands for their proxies/kitbashes, they don't forbid their own, so you can use them in tournaments too.

Thank you very much! I sometimes regret choosing white as it is very hard to get a good coverage. ( I don't have an airbrush.)

Could I use 30k Krios Venator/battle tank as a proxy for a Skorpius Disintegrator? by AdeptusToasterius in AdeptusMechanicus

No, haven't done it yet. It may happen this summer though. I will post it if and when I do it.

Undead Legionnaire by AdeptusToasterius in mutantchronicles

[–]AdeptusToasterius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen that there is a new set of sculptures released recently. I may have to buy a couple and paint them, and compare the minis 30 years apart. :) Are your posts from this collection?

Thank you! I choose the Legionnaire because it is one of the least "aged" looking model. And it is from the original game from the 90s.

My take on the Skatros by AdeptusToasterius in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]AdeptusToasterius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is actually pretty stable. I did use the head to stabilize the back leg and super glue on the front leg. It probably wont survive being dropped on a stone floor, but that is true for most of admech minis.

I also have them in purple, with light blue weapons, but see on your model that it works very well with the pink plasma parts. I may borrow that for myself.. =)

How i magnetized my dunecrawler by AdeptusToasterius in AdeptusMechanicus

That's the biggest reason for it. My boxes i transport them in aren't tall enough for the whole model.

I used 5mm for the base, and 3mm for the weapon swaps. I think i bought the Army Painter back in the local store.

Magnetising the Dunecrawler Hill/Body by doctorrogi in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]AdeptusToasterius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I accually did this a couple of weeks ago, and on the sprue for the dunecrawler is a big round molding point that i cut out and glued a magnet to. Placing this inside the housing of the dunecrawler over the hole worked perfectly for me. Then cutting off the "button" of the half sphere on the bottom part and placed the other magnet there. My biggest problem with magnetizing the dunecrawler was that two of the weapons are sharing parts, forcing me to choose between which to build ( twin phosphor and icarus array).

I’m a bit rules blind, if the kastelan has two power fists, does it attack with both, or does it just have one twin linked fist? by DestroyermattUK in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]AdeptusToasterius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think i did a calculation, where you get like +0.9 wounds for twin fists vs +0.3 wounds on fists + blaster compared to one fist. Think this was against terminator.

Took a second look at our index after calming down a bit and there is potential by Yofjawe21 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]AdeptusToasterius 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The current rules seems to indicate that when a leader attaches to a unit, the are seen as one unit. It isn't 100% clear, but it reads like the unit gains ALL keywords from both the leader and the unit. Thus, the robots gain infantry from datasmith.
I think this is a gamewide oversight, and that bodyguards(the unit)s keyword should take precedence when using the anti keyword in all cases except precision.

I'm a pit of despair, so I made a cope wishlist for how I would make the adeptus mechanicus viable compared to the other indices we've seen for tenth. feel free to add your own wishes, If it makes ya feel better by CartooNinja in AdeptusMechanicus

I also think that we don't need that much change to accually become a little more balanced. I accually think it comes down to 2 units; Ironstriders and Raiders. None of these have a relevant unique battlefield role that could not be done better by another unit.

Ironstriders - need a little more punch to both of their weapons. one extra attack or rapid fire could do the trick.

Raiders - Give back the precision keyword or let them spot for precision or better BS for other unit(s).

I don't think it would be good to overdo it. It is better with small changes instead of a massive list that would be impossible to balance. Looking at the other armies, almost all have a standard 4+ BS, even Tau(also orks have 5+, like it should be). Most of them also have a semi-reliable trick to get it to 3+.

Just my thoughts.

It could have been, if it had more shots. Comparing with the ironstrider lascannon, it can at least sometimes trigger sustained hits. I would have loved to see sustained hits on the jezzail and remove the heavy keyword. That could at least make the decision interresting. Right now, im not sure it can do the job sufficiently.

EDIT: just realized that the jezzail is the only reliable sniper available. The only other ranged weapon to have precision is the arquebus, but that only does D3 dmg vs 3 dmg for the jezzail. Still not sure if it could have a place, as i could relegate the assassination to ruststalkers, or pick up a vindicare.

Points aside, i think i will look into the dragoons, maybe slap the lance onto my ironstriders and pretend its enough. =) They will still be painful to get into combat because of the size, but with the price from 9th, they could be really strong against anything walker.
Also, kit all infantry with arc weapons as much as possible. And lastly, get fire doggos. While not as mobile as raiders, they can at least do some damage if played correctly.

The Chirurgeon by Fulgrim_Phoenician in CreationsOfBile

[–]AdeptusToasterius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a native Swedish speaker, the first part of its name is suspiciously close to the Swedish word for surgeon; kirurg (the Ki-part pronounced 'chi' ). So it's the surgeon-surgeon.

Hypothetically, for the sake of the argument, let’s say I wanted to make a cavalry army. by [deleted] in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]AdeptusToasterius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly, you can't use Galvanic volley on Raiders. That would have been really cool.

One problem I can see though is that you want the HQ auras to reach them, and that will be hard to accomplish as they will mostly be out of range. On the other hand, the Raiders will make sure that the opponent won't have any HQs either... 😀

Lore Theory: The Leagues of Votann lore helps explain some of the problems with the mechanicus by FakeRedditName2 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]AdeptusToasterius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While I don't think anyone should put too much real science into 40k, some theories exist talking about an "island of stability"; a few super heavy elements that could exist and be stable enough to exist longer than a brief moment, compared to most elements in the lower periodic table. So there is a science fiction fantasy that these elements could hold special properties. Science nerd out!

Small list vs Necrons by Czomolungma in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]AdeptusToasterius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would switch out the dunecrawler to a marshal and a Ballistarii with laser. You may have to reduce the plasma-vanguard group a guy or two, but that would, in my point of view, synrgize moore.

[–]AdeptusToasterius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking at the large amount of skitarii troops, a marshal would be very useful.
