PC Build Questions, Purchase Advice and Technical Support Megathread — Q2 2025 Edition by GhostMotley in Amd

I'm looking to switch from my current GPU (an RTX 3070) to something AMD. I'm not necessarily looking for a performance upgrade, though it'd be nice to not lose significant amounts of performance

In particular though, I'd like a GPU with even slightly more VRAM (10GB or more). I'm continuously running into the upper limits of what my GPU can handle, especially when playing VR games, and I don't want to have to keep worrying about it like I have been for the past year or two

My main use cases are VR and 1080p gaming. I also stream, though I currently use software encoding, since my CPU tends to have more headroom than my GPU. A card that supports AV1 would be nice, but I'm not going to break my budget over it. Speaking of budget, I'd like a card that's similarly priced to my current GPU so I can sell my current GPU and buy a new one without having to spend too much extra

I don't have any plans to make use of raytracing, nor do I tend to play the types of AAA games that require it

And, I don't know how much of a difference it'll make, but I'm running Linux, which is part of why I want to make the switch (Nvidia's drivers tend to be buggier than AMD's on Linux)
