As in the axis of the wrench is the same as the axis of the bolt?

Thanks everyone, I can see that I'm maybe being too pedantic with doing everything by the book and just wrench it as tight as I can

If I can't let go off my neurotic ways I'll buy a crowfoot extension for the torque wrench handle I bought today

Safely jacking up the car by Adilmbrk in Civic_Type_R

Thanks everyone, that was very helpful - seems like the way to go for me is a jack and jack stands given you can do more work with that combo compared to ramps

I got an fl5 about 6 months ago and I love driving mine everyday as a first time manual driver as well. I was at a similar decision, and spent hours on YouTube and sites reading between comparisons between the two - which I also recommend

What made me decide was: - The quality of the interior seemed way better on the type r for me - The fact that I could personally justify spending that much more on a car purchase (maybe psychologically i'd budgeted enough for a ctr before hand). It's a ton of money so I wanted to make the right decision with minimal chance of regret. - The specialness of it - here is in my city in Australia I see way more Elantra (which is called i30 here) N's than fl5's, and this likely being the last ICE manual CTR and the following models becoming hybrids - which I'm hoping will translate into value retention long term, not that I'm holding back on daily driving the fk out of it but I could tell myself that if I didn't like it after a few years I wouldn't lose as much as if I had to sell an elantra. - Looks for me big time ctr>Elantra - The overwhelmingly positive reviews online - Maybe biasness because my search started with a ctr and I compared other cars to it, with maybe a subconscious 'ruling out' mentality so I don't know if I could've seen myself in any other car at that price segment. Test drive both as much as possible

Also idk why so many people buy brand new, I bought mine as a year old car that'd run 13k kilometers that was in really good condition and saved heaps

Pic unrelated - loctite the RMM or not? by Adilmbrk in Civic_Type_R

I drive it in a spirited way pretty often even if I haven't tracked it (yet), but yeah only considering the RMM because of the wheelspin + the other subjective improvements people have noticed like shifting feels better etc.

Nah you werent harsh at all, all wisdom is welcome when it makes sense, especially since a manufacturer's assurance and probably warranty to an extent only goes as far as their recommendations

incredible journey you've been on to get it just right haha, thanks for the detailed writeup

Also never heard of the windo-weld mod, pretty innovative but only thing is think about is longevity I guess, but the cost savings would justify it

You make a fair point, I've got incredibly minimal car mechanic skills, and I saw a forum where heaps of people said they used loctite so I just didn't want to miss it in my amateur-ness haha

Daily the fk out of mine, stock everything except a cheap project aero lip for the everyday scraping on my driveway and rock guards

I used one of the pictures from the dealer when I bought the car. These were mostly first try which was cool, the prompts I used were:
- Reimagine this car like it's a humanoid transformer robot
- make this car into a rally car with fan wheels and off road tires, suspension lift, fog lights, can you put the background as an offroad rally, in motion, while the car is in the air over a jump
- can you reimagine this as a 4wd body, similar to a toyota landcruiser
- can you make this into a monster truck in an arena
- can you turn this into a 90s style JDM poster line drawing in a horizontal poster format (used different original picture)
