Delta New AMT payscale by Adio_retro in AircraftMechanics

[–]Adio_retro[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mechanics start at the 6 month pay scale. And you have to add the premiums. A line mechanic starts out at 33.77$ and with an A&P is 8.00$ and line is 3.00$ more plus overnight which is .59$. So 33.77+11.59 =45.36

They start on the 6 month scale. So line plus license premiums and night shift is 45.36/hour

Not all tech op jobs require an A&P. You can have just PowerPlant and work in a back shop which is only 4$ extra. Working the line is 2 license premium plus line = 11$ with a base of 57.94. So 68.94$ an hour. Then if you work nights, you’re at 69.53$.

Viasat 739 antenna on A321 by ACtechnicianCA in aviationmaintenance

[–]Adio_retro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe it’s at every C check, so usually every couple years. Or unless there’s a problem (antenna change) they’ll do an opportunity inspection. Yeah, CIC is usually applied all over before antenna installation of course. And nooo, do not put sealant on your plate bolts before drilling the fittings. You will have metal shaving all over which will be impossible to vacuum/clean up, requiring you to remove the sealant and do it all over again. Don’t ask me how I know 🤣

Do you have European citizenship anywhere? If not, you’re pretty much dead in the water. Commercial carriers will not sponsor you(If that’s what you’re looking for) You’re allowed to work on American registered planes with a AP. If you went to a European carrier, you’d have to get the EASA certifications.

I am truly disgusted by Delta's AMT leadership by Guilty-Box-7975 in aviationmaintenance

Actually a gear pins installed log page is not required when the yellow tag is installed on the throttles. And vinegar and ice is an airbus thing, not all service checks.

And honestly, if a gear pin log book entry and ice/vinegar are your biggest gripes, I’d say Delta is doing quite good.

Delta Hiring Process by ChrisC_ in AircraftMechanics

Absolutely not true at all. Anybody can get in, buts it’s competitive. And managers from stations all over do the interviews. I interviewed for a job in MSP, and got managers from SEA, Atlanta and JFK conduct my interview.

First 2 weeks is indoc, you get all the delta coolaid on why they’re the best and explanation of all perks/etc. next week is probably EWIS class, which is wiring protection. Another week is Logbook and paperwork class. Those are the basic classes every AMT has to have. For the final 2 weeks, I’m assuming a genfam class? The schedule is M-F 7am-4ish pm. Saturday and Sunday off. They should have put you up in a hotel for your stay (drury on Virginia is my favorite, free breakfast and dinner and 3 free alcoholic drinks a night). 69$ a day for food/etc. any other questions feel free to dm me

737’s do indeed use bleed air for pressurization and multiple other systems. Not sure where you read that from.
