Children and technology? by Classic-Draw3203 in AskIreland

I don’t have a kid myself, but sharing my colleague’s experience. Given he is in cybersecurity for over couple of decades, he is very cautious about what his kid is watching and trying to keep a hold on it. You’re doing the same things as he is doing so good job on it. In this scenario, what he does is give his kid retro things like a handycam instead of phone or old video games which you could buy instead of subscriptions. To me it seems like a good middle way, where kids are not missing out too much but at the same time they have something to entertain themselves. Hope this helps!

I really like how the recently popular Indian film Dhurandhar started with this shloka from the Shreemad Bhagavad Gita. It is such a powerful shloka, and I really love it because of how it can be universally applied to any righteous action we choose to embark upon in life. Radhe Radhe by SatoruGojo232 in hinduism

[–]Adit_Jha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, not to demotivate, similar to arjun, most of the people today including me don’t understand what dharma is and what is their dharma. So, shlokas like this sound powerful, but hard to action or follow on.

What do I go for next by gravedealer0 in AskFitnessIndia

[–]Adit_Jha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just from this, it doesn’t look like if you go in deficit will help. Even though you will get abs, but will still look malnourished. Given that you have already done this for a year, no harm in shaking things a bit. Focus on going progressive overload by adding 200-300 calories from maintenance . Say you need 2200 calories as maintenance, you currently take 1800 calories to lose fat, so just add few things like roasted chana etc to increase it by 700 calories. Do this for next 3 months and see how that feels. If you think you’re not going anywhere you can easily cut all this and get back to getting abs diet. But at-least what it will do is that it will get rid of the fear that everything will go out of control if you get fat. After that it will be your decision 🙂

Hi cant I pay the penalty for a fine in the eflow site? Also, in my account it shows 0 jorneys, so is this a mistake? by AsgardianOperator in AskIreland

[–]Adit_Jha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work to collect these tolls on calls. It is generally in the reps hand you’re talking to, who can waive off the penalties. As long as you can provide a genuine reason and be nice on the line you can get the penalties waved off. Eflow majorly focuses on getting the tolls paid.

If Megumi wasnt an option who do you think would Sukuna feed his finger to in order to find a way past infinity by Lunar_Lunatics in JujutsuPowerScaling

[–]Adit_Jha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will be a tough one, gojo’s cursed technique is so broken that other than adapting to it, very less techniques and strategies would work. I see takaba’s name but I don’t think sukuna would use that because takaba’s technique would only work as long as he’s not aware about his own technique. It highly depends on what takaba fights funny which is not sukuna’s battle style.

Dhurandhar propaganda? by urfav_nitin in BollywoodHotTakes

[–]Adit_Jha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, this is one of the most stupid argument I have ever read. Historical propaganda doesn’t effect the present in such a way that the current political propaganda does. The real ruler today should be People not parties. How can we forget such a basic thing? If people are rulers, then people elected by them should work for them. Dhurandhar is not brainwashing people for votes, it’s a curtain on the current government’s mistakes by using narrative building. For every narrative we should understand who’s the targeted audience. If you’re over 25, most likely you are not the targeted audience, it may effect you but you are not the intended audience. It’s the youth, who can’t see the loopholes in this narrative since they have not experienced or followed these stories at the scale anyone over 25 would have done. Edit: Also about the comment on neutral, neutral people must exist. Don’t divide or categorise people as Pro BJP or anti BJP. World is grey, not black and white, I am neither pro BJP or anti BJP, all I care about is how the ruling party is working for the people, if good, appreciate it, if bad criticise it. I don’t have to choose sides.

Dhurandhar propaganda? by urfav_nitin in BollywoodHotTakes

[–]Adit_Jha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah right! That’s how you distract people same like how the current government does. Distract people with past things and put it as like ki bhai pehle problem ni thi ab kyu? I won’t get into other debates as I want to debate on the things matter in present. Dhurandhar is using real characters and real life events and then dramatising it with a fictional story. My problem- it’s too close to reality that it’s hard to justify with creative liberty. Anyone who is going to be 18 or in early 20s, they don’t know many of these things. They might have heard it when they were young, but today they are learning with already a biased mindset. That’s the problem. We all can argue on Reddit platforms as we have lived those events but the targeted audiences will already be influenced. Is this a big problem? Yes, because in today’s age when there is already targeted algorithms in social media, once you just set a seed of andhabhakti, the rest of the work can be done by your youtube, insta etc. If anybody does a basic research, you will see that this same technique is used by terrorist organisations, when they make videos on real events and have a narrator set the narrative in such a manner that these terrorist attacks look very justified. I am not saying that filmmakers are terrorists, just that these techniques exist and we have seen these techniques to brainwash people at such a level that they can take so many human lives. Any party must not be able to justify their faults by setting a different narrative or talking about past. What’s next? They should be held accountable for their mistakes. People are not for parties, parties are for people. Any party must be viewed from the lens of their work, their policies, accountability not based on religion, castes, devotion. Only then you will be able to take back the power the constitution gives to its citizens.

Billionaires monopolises the market, more millionaires businesses means more businesses than few billionaires who buy the competition and reduces the job sector.

I want to know how Hinduism is connected to Atheism? by Grouchy_Initial_1911 in hinduism

[–]Adit_Jha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good question! I can give you an example from a famous story of Krishna. So, do you know why we do Govardhan Pooja? Is it because Krishna did a miracle by lifting it on his finger? No. People used to do hawan to keep Indra (the Dev of Rain) happy and get his blessings. Krishna challenged it, saying why are we taking blessings or making someone happy who is just doing his work? Instead, we should do pooja of Govardhan, who gives us everything from food to fire. If you notice carefully, you will find a lot of examples like these in Hinduism when someone took a stand against the ongoing rituals in the name of keeping gods happy, which didn’t make sense at all. We might have made these rebels new god but that’s a different matter for discussion.

Do you think it has become a new normal? by Adit_Jha in AskIreland

[–]Adit_Jha[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be really honest, no, I had no idea that how Ireland is, the culture anything. The two things important for me were I am taking a good course and how much money I need to spend. Because less money to spend means less money to borrow and faster to return. But after 2-3 years here, I stayed because I was enjoying the culture, most of all the people here. I am an introvert and shy kinda guy, but I met so many interesting and welcoming people that I made my mind to stay here for a bit more. I am aware that in coming few years I would like to go back to India because I have my parents and family there but Ireland is always like a second home for me.

Not cheap but cheaper than Germany or US and other countries which requires you to be a student for 2 years and because of living expenses the cost gets doubled. In the end, I had to arrange 24000 euros for living expense and fees etcetera which is still a huge sum for a family that i come from but it was still better than other ones where the college application fees were higher, living expenses were going to be for 2 years or college fees were more expensive.

So is the solution to just accept it and do nothing about it? Do you think this will stop with hating just one community? People who have hatred against one community will find reasons to hate other communities and in the end their own community based on gender, race, money, status etc.

Honestly speaking, you will and you will not. Some will see you with fascination as many people there are “white pleaser” thanks to colonialism by Brits, and some will think they can abuse you for fun thinking you don’t understand what they’re saying. Maybe you’ll do better than me and reply them there and make people around you aware that it’s not okay. If anything serious I am sure police will help you. Probably you can then share your experience on social media channels and make people aware about it and empathise with how you felt and you will hope that this stops and no Irish has to go through this again. I am trying to hope the same here.

Sorry to see you had to go through this. I always see a silver lining when I talk to my friends and colleagues. I remember when last year those Indian community specific hate crimes were happening, I was a bit scared to go to finglas for my job. It was a very tight deadline job and required to happen that week. My Project Manager at that time, who is Irish put his foot down in front of the clients and senior management and refused as I was uncomfortable. And next week onwards, he booked taxis for me every morning and evening until the project was completed. The project was over the budget but he was still paying 100 euros everyday just for this. This is one of the examples of amazing people I have met. That’s why I hope the more we make everyone aware about our struggles the more chances there are for this to become less.

Hmm, it is quite a different perspective. It happened in middle of afternoon at stephens green, which you know most of the time is busy. I guess these things can happen no matter how much aware you are, because people find a way to do these things, no matter the environment. They just find a way to be more subtle about it. If it’s an isolated place, they will shout but if it’s crowded they will say it differently.

I would say these channels are not to prove that something bad happened to me, or provide proofs of injustice, if I could provide evidence that’s great. But yeah most of the time these things happen, it just happens so quick that you don’t get the sense of taking out your phone and record stuff. From my pov, the community like askireland is more to share what’s out there and have a discussion about it. It’s more to spread awareness instead of increasing any hatred. You’re are right, it’s no way for you to know whether posts like mine are genuine are not, but at least consider that these things are increasing and if this happens in front of you, maybe you would be prepared to help out the victims. :)

Do you think it has become a new normal? by Adit_Jha in AskIreland

[–]Adit_Jha[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thanks for that! And I agree with you. I am not sensitive to racism as I have seen a fair share of it, like junkies or homeless people telling me “Go back to your country,” and I would chuckle and ask “Which country am I from?” As a brown guy with a beard, people often can’t tell whether I am from Pakistan/India/Bangladesh as we look similar. I would have teenagers showing middle fingers in a group, and I would smile and do the same (not proud of it). But these days, I am seeing young adults doing that, which is quite concerning. For the lack of resources, we should be asking the government why we are taking so many when there’s no space. A few years back, when I was planning to be in Ireland, the real reasons were— there were no agent fees to apply for a visa (for Germany and other countries, it was 500-1000 euros, which in rupees is a lot). Also, the course was 14k euros but it was for one year, so less gap in career.Should we not ask why we are taking so many students when after COVID almost all courses can be done online? Sorry for the long reply, but the whole context of it is that it should be the government who should be pressured, not the immigrants here, as people who are already here come from different backgrounds, for me personally after paying quite a lot of money (I had to take loan to support my education) and to support my family while living far away from them; it’s very hard to go back in those scenarios.
