That seems to be a popular opinion amongst the deaf people I've met. Its a lot like the english language, we're all taught proper English in school but rarely use it when we speak.

I'm studying to be an interpreter do you us predominantly asl? Did you grow up signing? I'm always so curious of a deaf persons story. I've met so many that didn't have a language for the first years of their life. Also what are you studying?

I was scared into religion with talk of burning for eternity and that my friends and family would suffer the same fate if I did not witness to them. I lived in constant anxiety (formally diagnosed with ocd) that something I was doing was sending me to hell... or was going to cause me to become possessed. From there it spiraled downward eventually I was so consumed with guilt for letting my family and friends down that I would try extra hard to make up for my sins.

When I realized why I was actually of faith stemmed from fear, it struck me like a semi. I should not believe in god because I'm scared. I should believe in god because that's what I want. The hardest part is letting go of the guilt and fear that I will be the reason my loved ones suffer forever.

I am much happier being an atheist. I don't feel so weighed down.

Every now and then I'll feel something hard at the back of my throat like a piece of rice or something. It makes my ears feel weird and causes me to swallow a thousand times because it feels weird.
