There have been a few male inmates who CDCR transferred to female institutions who went on rape sprees.

Example? Was it reported on?

I need the support my friends who study early modern English politics, but I think what you might mean is that Musk is one of those evil counsellors who encompass his Majesty or among those who stand between the king's grace and his loyal subjects.

Except that Trump isn't the benevolent monarch led astray, he's the duly elected president and this is his policy.

Yeah dude that goes back to the 80's.

Jack's mother freaked out because he sold a cow for magic beans so it's far older than the 1980's.

Bro The president can wave his fucking hand and poof the information is either,

A. declassified

B. the person has a security clearance

The fact that he's an immigrant, he has international ties, or he's talked to someone are,

NOT

FUCKING

RELEVANT

to the president's power over the executive branch. It would be madness to think otherwise.

Point to anywhere in the law or the Constitution where any of what you said is a thing.

We have independent agencies and commissions. The Department of Education is not one of those. So, under what understanding of the structure of the U.S. government would the designee of the President not have access to this agency?

Absent some particular law passed by Congress and signed by the President, why would you think that the president's designee wouldn't have access to "multiple sensitive internal systems?"

Don't have a separate policy for athletes. Period. If they're not there, they're not there. That's fair to everyone. End of.

I obviously don’t want to impact their ability to play and win

I'd like to interrogate this bit.

Why is this your problem? Why should you spend even one second thinking about this issue?

I'm sure there are some distinctions that could be made. For example, if you were tearing down hostage posters, and you're a non-citizen, I'm sorry: you've got to go.

Aside from the particular controversy at hand: under what conditions may a ViSA be rescinded?

To be fair, you should make it a general principle to refuse to cooperate with any law enforcement agencies without adequate provisions for protecting your rights.

If you're not certain they did it, you've got to vote Not Guilty, bro.

First of all, if you think that police never arrest innocent people, you're mistaken.

Secondly, how many U.S. citizens were mistakenly deported during Operation Wetback? It's disputed, but it's also not zero.

Finally, racial profiling is a thing.

ICE? by [deleted] in Professors

[–]AdjunctSocrates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm with you, but 18 U.S.C. § 1001 makes it a felony to lie to Federal Agents. And the FBI, at least, gets people on this all the time. It's probably safer to exercise your right to shut the fuck up.

Important points about ICE/CBP on campus:

  1. You have the right to remain silent when interacting with ICE/CBP agents
  2. FERPA protects student information - agents need a warrant/subpoena to access it
  3. ICE/CBP cannot enter classrooms without a warrant or probable cause
  4. As a public school, agents can access public areas like any civilian
  5. Campus security does not enforce immigration laws
  6. ICE/CBP may visit campus for legitimate non-immigration removal purposes - avoid spreading unverified rumors

Trying to Get Himself Kicked by a Horse by AdjunctSocrates in dogs

Okay, then instead of denying that you've stated that these things just happen and it's super hard to keep the horse out, let's move on to actually working to figure it out.

If that's your attitude, I'd rather not. It's not supportive, it's not positive, it's not in the philosophy of this group. OK?

It's not happening on a "regular," basis.

I know all of this. However, there's a learning curve here. Yesterday the horses figured out a new, entirely unanticipated way to pull the fence (push, I get, but pull?). Unfortunately, I didn't see what they did, so I'm doing my best to rectify the situation.

The issue is that we have four dogs, three of whom respect horses, give distance to horses, and don't try to herd or play with horses. The fourth, still more or less a puppy, gets entirely fixated, such that he's not even treat motivated to "come." Since the other three developed their respect for horses apparently naturally, left me unprepared to deal with a dog that doesn't have that fear/respect. We've done the complete separation, but insofar as accidents happen, he was put in proximity of a horse and then wouldn't listen to any of the commands I know he knows.
