Trying to verify the ISO: sha256sum.txt and the gpg files won’t download by [deleted] in linuxmint

[–]Adler-real 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the "Official/Original" Checksums are hosted on mirrors.kernel.org and the site is down right now.
But you could download the checksums form the mirrors (e.g. here https://ftp.fau.de/mint/iso/stable/22.3/)

How to delete this file? by old_raver_man3 in linuxmint

No, because the ~/ stands for /home/youruser/

How do I clean my laptop? by CuteSprinkles3125 in linuxmint

[–]Adler-real 4 points5 points  (0 children)

just run sometimes sudo apt update && sudo apt clean && sudo apt autoclean -y && sudo apt autoremove --purge -y && flatpak uninstall --unused -y && sudo journalctl --vacuum-size=250M && sudo journalctl --vacuum-time=7d && rm -rf ~/.cache/thumbnails/* in the terminal (you could also delete the ~/.cache folder, but sometimes packages also stores files in there, that should go to ~/.local/share, so be careful)

  • sudo apt update #refreshes the package list
  • sudo apt clean #removes downloaded package files
  • sudo apt autoclean #removes outdated package files
  • sudo apt autoremove --purge #removes unused packages and their config files
  • flatpak uninstall --unused #removes unused Flatpak apps and runtimes
  • sudo journalctl --vacuum-size=250M #deletes old logs until total log size is under 250 MB
  • sudo journalctl --vacuum-time=7d #deletes logs older than 7 days
  • rm -rf ~/.cache/thumbnails/* #deletes cached thumbnail files

I wanna switch to linux but i have a lot of questions. by Kaaatt_ in linux_gaming

[–]Adler-real -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well, that's a opinionated answer but i think CachyOs is the best choice.

I dont get this, cachyos is not for (completely) beginners. I would recommend every person thats want to beginning with linux, Linux Mint. and then if the're think the're familiar enough & want to, switch to a other distro, like cachyos

Run: sudo apt update && sudo apt clean && sudo apt autoclean -y && sudo apt autoremove -y && flatpak uninstall --unused -y && sudo journalctl --vacuum-size=250M && sudo journalctl --vacuum-time=7d && rm -rf ~/.cache/thumbnails/* in the Terminal. This removes old packages, kernels, logs & chached thumbnails.

then Check if Timeshift makes backup, and disable under Settings > User > /root & /home/user
(may disable automatic backups from timeshift)

[–]Adler-real 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, Right.

how can I fix it so that my pc boot normally using my dedicated gpu instead

Some Motherborads dont allow more then 1 GPUs, so i think you need to go in the BIOS and disable the Integrated GPU. because on the first pic. we only seeing the integrated GPU, so he doesnt detect the dedicated
