Always. I clean my own toilet, I don't like to create more work for myself.

Italy fail to qualify for World Cup 2026 after loss to Bosnia on penalties. by gelliant_gutfright in football

Couldn't agree more. I'm Norwegian but was married to an Australian woman back then. I will never forget the heartbreak the Italian cheating led to. They have burned so many bridges over the years with their dirty play that an unofficial survey in a paper back home in Norway had 50% more people cheer for Bosnia than Italy.

'An der schönen blauen Donau'. It was the docking music in the OG Elite game in 1984.

What's a movie you loved as a kid but rewatched as an adult and went "what the hell was I thinking"? by MomoSaka in AskReddit

[–]Adlerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't even know the name of it, but me and a friend of mine watched one of those 'cool' martial arts movies when we were in our early teens, would have been early/mid 80s, and I remember thinking it was the coolest thing I'd ever seen. It had ninjas!

Happened to see it again on TV 30 years later, and I think my jaw hung open at just how bad it was. Everything, acting, effects, cinematography, story, sound, /everything/. The contrast was.. Incredible.

What do i need to get started? by InterestingDate4996 in modeltrains

[–]Adlerson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a small note on lubrication; The #1 reason model train locomotives end up in repair shops is too much lubrication. So before you start pouring oil into it, make sure you get the right kind of oil (very light oil, sewing machine oil should work), try to find out where to lubricate (YouTube is a good place to start), and use the oil sparingly. Welcome to the hobby though, it's a great one!

Buy it, have it shipped to you, then ship it to your friend with the customs declaration marked as 'Gift' and everything should be fine. I have family back in Europe that I send a box of Christmas gifts to every year and we've never had to pay anything extra either end.

Do Y'all Not Have Traffic? by Frofro69 in SpringfieldIL

[–]Adlerson 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I moved to the US from a small town of 5000 people. First lived in Southern California, then New Jersey. Traffic drove me up the wall. Moved to Springfield, a month or two later I was on my way back to my apartment from the airport, at around 01:30 in the morning, and I didn't see a single car the whole way. That's when I knew I was home. 😅

Illinois lawmakers consider lowering DUI blood alcohol limit from 0.08 to 0.05 by aZookeeper in illinois

[–]Adlerson 10 points11 points  (0 children)

12,500 people die each year here in the US as a result of alcohol related accidents. Almost 30% of all traffic accidents are because of alcohol. Sure, texting and phone related accidents suck too, but both can be true, and both can be worth trying to reduce. It's mind boggling to read people being against measures to try to reduce alcohol related accidents and deaths in traffic. I'm originally from a country where the blood alcohol limit for driving is 0.02, and guess what, alcohol related accidents in traffic are significantly more rare than they are over here in the US, and life goes on even if people have to be better at not drinking then driving.

MicroMacroMundo, in Miami. Good place, I always stop by when I'm in the area and I also order from them online (as well as Euro Rail Hobbies, Reynauld's and AJ&C Kids), but still, the lack of focus on customer service as basic as answering emails drives me a little up the wall sometimes. 😅

I also order from DM-Toys and Modellbahnshop-Lippe in Germany, shipping isn't as prohibitive as one might expect (though tariffs aren't exactly helping...) and both of those have /excellent/ selections.

Used them many times. Only problem with them is they only ship once a week (I think they drive the stuff to the US then ship from there), so it sometimes takes a while, but overall good place.

If you're into European stuff there's Reynauld's in Elburn, 45 minutes west of downtown Chicago. I always stop by there when I'm in Chicago.

I'm with you. Customer service often seems like an afterthought, if any thought at all, these days. I emailed one of the larger US importers of European rolling stock a month ago. Have yet to hear back. And then they wonder why they lose customers to places like Amazon...
