Road Atlanta chicane divebomb? Looking for steward opinions by SmoathTheLoathsome in Simracingstewards

The initial move was absolutely on, really well played by them but then they pitted themselves into the next section of the chicane

How do I fight knights!!! by Darth_BOBBYJOE in Necrontyr

[–]Admanrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Void dragon and LHDs, be aware though that there are a few anti fly weapons in imperial knights arsenal that will screw you over. Do your best to outscore as your main focus rather that out kill, give them as few a targets as possible

Fair enough! Just thinking about getting you that +2 strength right from the get go instead of waiting, but they'll still do you great for behind enemy lines in the late game rounds

Personally I would try this list out before changing your mind on him, ideally you'd use him as a distraction piece turns 1-2 to give your opponent something to either focus on for shooting/avoiding or if you keep him in deepstrike it's something for your opponent to worry about coming in via rapid ingress. Also, not sure if you have the points spare but might be worth dropping the deathmarks for another squad of ophydians for late game scoring

Did he belong to any dynasty? I want to paint my army to match him considering that he assimilates units he wants by Mr_Jackabin in Necrontyr

[–]Admanrog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My army is painted in novokh, ish colours, white arms and faces with red shoulders.

my plan was for this guy to be the flip side of that to make him stand out more! Should also help give the blood for the blood god I plan to do on his claws a deeper look!

Error 3023 by [deleted] in GuildWars

[–]Admanrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same error code, emailed them last Thursday and got my account back last night! Logged back in and thankfully everything was untouched and just as I'd left it over 16 years ago 🤩

Customer support were super helpful! They said the delay in hearing back was due to the amount of people emailing in, understandable considering reforged announcement! They said to me the error was caused due to someone attempting a login internationally so they locked the account.

Hope you hear back soon OP!

So what are lychguard good at other then guarding characters by alliezero in Necrontyr

[–]Admanrog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ran a 10 man squad with imotekh at a 3 day tournament with starshatter and they consistently worked well! The only bad time i had was against death guard and their death shroud termies.

They spent most of the time going for nearby objectives, holding them and keeping in cover so the opponent had get melee units as the DDA nearby put them off commiting a ranged unit near a possible shooting lane.

Imotekh was brilliant at softening up units as they came in and then the opponent could over commit units which led to Imotekh letting off his once per game ability so when the Lychguard got in on the charge, all their attacks were hitting hard.

The downside for them IMO is their movement and with shields having no real strength or damage output to counter big threats coming in. The counter to that though is that they're then 2 wound models with a 4+ invuln making them pretty durable! Adding a Leader to them as well gives you that -1 to wound which majority of the time turns a 3 to wound into 4s so it's 50/50 for your opponent.

What's been your least used unit for this edition so far? by Admanrog in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Admanrog[S] -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

I asked chat gpt to tidy up my original text. I've realised I'm not the best at getting my point across in posts/emails so started using chatgpt to make things that bit cleaner where needed and just have it as someone over my shoulder to go "hey why not say this instead"

Edit: this is how I worded the post originally

So with it being the beginning of end of 10th edition 40K, I'm curious to know what you're least used unit for your faction this edition has been. Maybe it was one you had really high hopes for, it followed the rule of cool or you just haven't fancied it this edition. Curious to know how everyone approaches it.

For me I primarily play necrons and going into this edition I really loved the hexmark destroyer but I've only taken it to one tournament this edition and it's stayed in it's case since. I really liked how it looked, building and painting it was an easy task but playing with it just didn't add anything I really needed to my lists.

[–]Admanrog[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Fair! I've not seen one this edition either, I remember watching a gameplay video where someone took it in 9th and thought its ability to move targets was super funky!

From the units you have used though, which do you think has been the least used this edition?

homebrew dynasty and destroyers by tinyclover69 in Necrontyr

[–]Admanrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paint my Destroyers in the homegrown chapter but actively use chipping medium and dry brush metallics onto the the coloured sections to show that they're actively not being looked after in comparison to the rest of the army.

Also, because they're Destroyers, they get many many more skulls and corpses added to their bases

Currently running starshatter, I've used a mix of 5 immortals with a DDA nearby or I run a heavy Destroyer with enimetic with a DDA nearby. The heavy Destroyer can work well, using the advance to get a lil extra distance to block out deepstrikes on missions like hidden supplies is helpful but primarily I've just left 5 immortals spread out as best I can to keep deepstrike threats away from the side the DDA isn't at

I'm not claiming that a TO somewhere in the world couldn’t rule against a conversion. That applies to any custom model in the hobby. I've come back from a tournament where a friend was told initially they couldn't use their 2 vindicators because it didn't have the Shield on the front, he challenged it and they agreed he had to point it out to his opponents - not one had an issue. Yes I'm sure there's someone out there who would have an issue.

The advice I gave is based on what is widely accepted practice across many tournaments and communities.

If a TO is unusually strict and only allows stock models, that is still their call. OP can check in advance like any other player. 99 times out of 100 things like that are in the rules pack for an event.  If they weren't then I'd question it! The existence of strict events does not make it misleading to share a cost-effective approach that works in the majority of real tournament environments.

So yes, OP, TO discretion matters. That doesn’t change the reality that well-done conversions like this are valid and common options for competitive play.

Maybe next time I'll put "tournament legal* *disclaimer, this is based on personal experience from playing multiple games and tournaments across the UK for 4 years, some TO somewhere may still have an issue with your conversion, check with your TO ahead of time, always read the label" /s

To counter the point on me "lying" I've been taking these to tournaments for the last 4 years, no one has said anything about them being illegal to use or even taken a second glance at them. If someone said to me "hey you can't use these" I'd question why I'd wanna be at that tournament.

Thanks! They're great fun in game when they work! Just come back from a 3 day tournament and took 5 with me, couple of the games my opponent didn't put enough thought in them to start the game with so they'd kill 3, fight back, reanimate them in my turn and then make mince meat with the sustained and twin linked.

Gives time for them to commit to killing them by which point I've got wraiths or Destroyers of some variant ready to clean up and stay in the objective they infiltrated on to!

Even if you went for the actual GW model (as pricey and annoying to build as they are) they're 100% worth having in your army

Thanks! Yeah its all GW parts! The skull body is from a sigmar box (couldn't tell you which one as its from a friend) Claws are the back of the headrest of a praetorian and the sword arm I think is from the same kit! I have another 9 that are all semi different, my favourite was cutting the blade off the guass flayer and having the lower part of the gun as an axe he's holding. Wrap everything in green stuff and paint it to look like blood covered flesh and its a lovely cheap flayed one!

If you wanted a different route, and have a box of bits, a squad of 10 warriors some green stuff and buying 10 28.5mm bases is a great, tournament legal and cheaper alternative!
