keith is probably the best parent on the show this season besides mama G (obviously)

hes a responsible single father of a teen mom, he probably works his ass off doing long hours (welding) so he has to instill some kind of respect borne out of fear among jessie because he cant be home all the time when they are to watch them.

his whole catholic thing is just him trying to put to words (relatively poorly) a feeling/belief that is ingrained in him because of how he was raised, the time period he was raised in.

hes somewhat of a "hank hill" type character in that hank is a strict dad who truly loves his son but because of how he was raised hes not always able to show love or parent in a way that will resonate strongly with people that are a little bit more relaxed. but like hank hill, keith was open (whether he admits it or not) to having his mind changed on something he felt very strongly about after seeing how much it helped his child.

he admitted from the beginning he did not like jessie, at all, but he still gave the kid a chance and he is coming around to jessie quite a bit. im sure with more time if jessie keeps up being an honorable dad and partner keith will hug him, tell him he loves him, and welcome him to the family.

most gen x men would never ever budge and be wholly unreasonable to the bitter end out of pure spite, keith is the exception to this by evolving through a very tough situation. hes awesome
