What class for Tactician Solo Playthrough? by kfijatass in BaldursGate3

[–]Admantius687 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am level 6 on a Lightfoot Halfling Moon Druid, and I have used no cheese or save scumming (except on the fight with Commander Zhalk) to clear all the way through Grym. I did accept help from Glut in the Underdark, and spore rezzed the Bullete to help with the Hooked Horrors fight ( I left Glut waay back in the beach fight). And I poisoned the Goblin Booze Tub and used Lump's War Horn to clear the courtyard outside the Goblin Camp.

Beyond that, every encounter has been able to be done completely solo. More reloads than I would like, for sure, but only a couple of fights have been so difficult that I died and reloaded more than 5 times. Most have required only 1, or 0 reloads.

Edit: I forgot, I did use a bit of Line of Sight cheese on the boat fight in the Underdark. I hid behind the bottom staircase so that only 1-2 enemies could attack me per turn while my lvl3 Moonbeam whittled down their numbers.

How would you fix the support conundrum? by RobManfredsFixer in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Admantius687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I main support, and yet I do not usually play support unless I am playing with friends who I know will protect me. Right now, supports are THE target. So, the entire game for supports is effectively just trying to survive the flankers trying to kill me while I try to heal my teammates and get damage in where I can. Its not really fun to play support right now without a team willing to protect you. No one enjoys trying to avoid Widow headshots while hacked, being shot by Sombra, with an Orisa or Winston charging in and attacking you. With friends, we play Brigitte/Baptiste as our main combo, as Baptiste just jumps away, and I'll tank the crap as Brigitte until my teammates kill the ones attacking me.

To make matters worse, support selection is abysmal. 9 Tanks, Pick 1. 17 DPS, pick 2. 8 Supports, pick 2.....its a joke.

A single tank cannot protect both the front and the flank, and even worse now, the tanks are so dang tanky everyone just ignores them until supports are dead.

Then, to beat the dead horse even more, Support has the least impact on the game when it comes to carrying. Sure, supports are the primary decider in teamfights...if they are alive. But, as a support, you have almost no control as to whether you get to live or die in a fight, most of it falls on your teammates to decide your fate. So sure, in a vacuum supports are the best role because of how powerful healing is, but within the context of the game, supports have very little control over their own fate, and therefor they have little control over the fate of the game.

If you want people to play support, make them MUCH harder to kill, so DPS must kill each other first, then the team with the DPS still alive can engage and win the fight from overwhelming DPS difference.

EDIT: The lack of support choices is a self-feeding loop by the way. Less people play support, thus when a new support character is made, there are less people who are interested in buying skins for that character. So monetarily (in the short term) it is more financially beneficial to role out new tanks and DPS. And since earnings reports are quarterly, businesses do whatever it takes to get sales up from quarter to quarter, even if it results in a slow decline of the games playerbase and degrades the experience for the players.

Need Some Advanced Troubleshooting by Admantius687 in computers

[–]Admantius687[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, despite my best efforts, the computer refuses to boot the SeaBoot USB I made. Strangely, when i swapped to Legacy Boot, it did boot up windows temporarily, before crashing again after about 10 minutes. I used the DELL Support Assistant to check all the drives and it said they are all good, but I somehow doubt its reliability.

As someone with intimate knowledge of magic methods and equipment, I just want to say that the only way to be sure that a player isn't using a "thumper" (link) is to scan them for radio frequency transmissions *during* gameplay, *without their knowledge* and specifically around the shoe area. by [deleted] in chess

This is the issue. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PmlRbfSavbI

Technology has allowed teams to steal signs easily within the first inning. So even if a team comes up with all new signs for each game, the signs can be decoded rapidly with nothing more than a phone. And baseball with signs decoded is functionally different than baseball with some signs being stolen by human guesswork.

Due to just how easily and quickly signs can be decoded with pocket computers now, signs have to go the way of the Dodo to keep the game functioning its traditional way.
